Guest guest
Chantelle No such thing as a dumb question. You may not remember as vividly how miserable you were with the chicken pox at such a young age or you might be more inclined to recommend it for others. Or you may have been fortunate enough to have a mild case (unlike me who had it full blown). But a more important reason is that as in the cases of the other illnesses we vaccinate against, the risk of serious complications associated with chicken pox, such as heart damage or even death. Most of us are lucky and get through chicken pox with no serious complications, but for those parents who's kids did not probably wish there was a vaccination. Furthermore, polio, measles, mumps, etc are all illnesses that most kids would get (as you said) *only once* and never get it again. But some of those kids ended up with serious complications with permanent implications and that's why doctors worked towards a vaccine. The same applies to chicken pox. Chicken pox is not as innocent a virus as most of us were led to believe. Jeanne __________________________________________________
