Guest guest
Hi, just wondering, if anyone out there gets respite care? we are finally off the waiting list since april of 2000-YES 2000!! and are just now getting a worker, but don't know how it will work. she is our neighbor's sister, in her 60's and VERY busy with other client's. since we haven't had respite for all this time we are "allowed" 40 hours a month for a while. Great! except she isn't available very much. and the first 20, she has to spend with only timmy. I can understand this if the child needs alot of special attention--he does not, and wants his brothers with him, not stuck with the worker alone. so, don't know what is going to happen. guess we'll just keep going like we are. besides, I don't want to leave him alone with her for awhile--I don't care who's sister she is, or how long she has worked for upc. but, I aslo wondered if any of you out there should have it and aren't getting it? specifically Caitlyn's family I think it was. I guess respite is probably the same all over too many kids and not enough good people to care for them. maria, mom to timmy 5.5 charge, keegan 3 and liam 8 mo,
