Hi, An wonderful thing has happened all these many years after stopping the WP in the spring of '05. I can now use more normal amounts of estrogen and I actually feel the need for progesterone. ha ha! This is huge. I'm down to 1.5 mg of E gel a day; I divide the dose between AM and PM. I'm using 100 mg of Prometrium (oral) in the evening for about 8 - 10 days depending on how it goes (if I get depressed and sick on it I have to stop). Obviously I'm still sensitive, but now I can feel when I need it. Also a new marker has shown up for me. When my neck is sore (too tight) and other muscles are feeling clenched I know I have to lower the E and use P. Mom has the same issue too so she has to make sure her E doesn't get too high.I stopped the WP in the spring of '05 and got down to 3mg of compounded E a day (still the same WP stuff I used on the protocol) until the P started surging out of my tissues (May, June '05) and then there were days I was up to 64 mg of compounded E a day to keep on top of the horrible P. Yes, 64mg of E a day. There are old emails in the archives about what that was like. It was scary. Anyway, that is long and far ago. At the time I was fortunate to be able to talk to Bent Formby about what was happening and find my way to solutions that got me through it while I protected my organs. My mother and I both did the protocol and we both had serious problems during the P phase. She was late 60's and I was early 40's at the time and I'd just had a babe two years previous (naturally - no receptor problems). We had similar problems with the protocol even though one was well past menopause and the other hadn't. What was similar for us other than genetics; we'd been using OTC progesterone cream prior to the WP. GAK!! I suspect we were more pre-loaded with P than many folks who do the protocol which might also explain why we both felt so darn good on the E right from the start. I will point out that our WP practitioner didn't think we needed to have any blood tests prior to starting. Given my current state on not being loaded to the gills with P, now I'd go thru the roof if I had to use 4mg of E AM and 4 mg more PM. There is no way I'd do the cycling up and down routine again. Whatever hypothesis there is about that idea, it simply isn't worth the hot flashing and difficulty that comes with it. I'm pleased to no longer be in the hormone freak camp with a WP blasted endocrine system. Laurel
