Guest guest
Anyone have a behaviour reaction to lots of insect bites? Our son definitely has a greater physical reaction to bites - he often gets quarter to half dollar size welps and sometimes hives if he has more than one bite in the area. My inlaws watched him for the weekend, they swear they only fed him things we have fed him, did a run-down of it, it all sounds good. He played outside for a long time yesterday just in swimming trunks. They did not use sunscreen on him that I know of. When we got there I noticed he had lots of welps on his back like he had been bitten. Today he definitely has about 10+ really red inflamed welps on his body, and rashes. His behaviour has been HORRIBLE. When we left him he was doing really good, 2 days later he was visually stimming really bad, stuff I haven't seen him do in 3+ months... He freaked out getting into the car, and hasn't stopped. He just shrieked all through dinner and his coordination is definitely off, he flipped over taking a bath, and he LOOOOOVES to bathe... so something is definitely off?? Could it be the bug bites??? I mean obviously its a allergic type reaction he's having to the bites for them to welp up and cause rashy areas.... Normally I would give benedryl... I am unsure if that is gfcf now.... or is going to add to the behaviour. Im getting pretty close to crazy right now with the level of shrieking we have going on. It's pretty constant, and he never does it anymore.... HELP!
Guest guest
My daughter gets huge welts from mosquito bites. I put on a non-toxic bug spray in the summer, but she still gets a few bites each summer. The best thing I have found for her bites is Manuka Oil on them right away after she gets bitten. She has never acted differently, but she has only had 1-2 bites at one time. She will behave differently and regress back into autism (she's recovered) if she spends too much time in pool water. For her, it lasts about 24 hours. I imagine it is the chlorine, chemicals, etc. She is OK if she spends less than 1/2 hour in the pool, but I don't take her often so she doesn't have the stress.
