Guest guest
my son's dan dr. suggested biofilm? It sounds aggressive. My son (36 months old-pdd-nos) is on SCD diet (since last month) which I heard takes care of biolfilm too. I'd like to start with antiviral/antifungal therapy or even try an antifungal. Any help would be appreciated. Guest guest
I was strongly considering biofilm treatment for my son. We had been unsuccessfully treating yeast and dysbiosis for the past 18 mos. We started SCD in January and his May OAT test came back without high yeast!!! I think SCD alone may work, probably is what worked for us (we have also been switching up his antifungals so not completely sure) but I have heard great things about biofilm treatment and was ready to start it before I got those results. It all makes a lot of sense, KWIM? I guess it depends on how patient and how cautious you want to be. Maybe do an OAT in a few mos to see how much has cleared just with SCD.... SCD has definitely been a WOW for us. Good luck, Kelley > > my son's dan dr. suggested biofilm? It sounds aggressive. Guest guest
thank you, kelly A stool culture showed no yeast or anything else. I have heard stool cultures can be unreliable. Is the OAT test more reliable? I'm glad to hear SCD has worked for your son. That's encouraging. My son's allergic to eggs and bananas- staples in SCD. This is my second attempt with SCD. Back in March, I tried the diet for 1 month and I saw some regression and it scared me so much that I returned to GF/CF. Can you describe any other positive changes you've seen from SCD and antifungals? Anne Marie To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Sunday, June 14, 2009 7:24:27 AMSubject: Re: biolfilm ??? or ??? Guest guest
We were told to give our son apple cider vinegar to break down the biofilm so the meds could work. We actually never got to that point to tell you whether it worked or not. Our son started vomitting from yeast die off so we assumed we didn't have to go there. Besides even the thought of swallowing 2tsps. of apple cider vinegar a day makes my tummy hurt. Guest guest
How do you give the apple cider vinegar to break down biofilm? On an empty stomach away from all other supplements? How much and how many times per day? Dana droyle2007 wrote: > We were told to give our son apple cider vinegar to break down the biofilm so the meds could work. Guest guest
You should get a hold of Dr. Anja Useman's presentation on Biofilms from this years Autism one conference in Chicago.. My son has been fighting yeast for years.. we can never get rid of the stuff, and he is on diflucan all the time.. When ever his starts acting extra crazy, we suspect a yeast flare up, even though his test never really show it.. Well we start antivirals about 2 months ago, and as we expected he started acting yeasty , big time.. I know they say that the antivirals can bring that on, but we are kind of sick of the yeast issues, since everything feeds the bad bacteria .... After watching the presentation again on disk, it really looks like my son may have a biofilm problem.. I made an appointment with Dr. Useman's clinic, big wait by the way.. I started a a kind-of starter version of the protocol . Apple cider vinegar is part of it, fermented foods, enzymes with edta, and stuff to mop it all up with..followed by probiotics, etc. If you google her, you can find the protocol, also on the Klaire web site you can find some information. All I can say is that within a few days, we started having massive die off, and he had been on diflucan for a couple of months already. If your thinking about doing this, I would get a download of her presentation from Autismone . The thing about a biofilm is that if you don't break it up some how, you can do antifungals forever, and never get rid of the bad stuff encased in the biofilm..
