Guest guest
Dear friends, Thank you all for the messages of support I have received. It's good to know there are people out there who know how it is to go through this. Walt asked me what about the treatment I'm on.I would like to take this opportunity to share my story with other group members who might help me to identify the best management for my condition. I first noticed the A.F. in July of this year it did not concern me because I was going through a lot of stress at the time and it happened on just one or two occasions. I decided to go for a medical check and everything came back fine even the e.c.g. check. Just after the terrorist attacks in N.Y. I suffered a very severe attack which resulted in a visit to hospital. I thought I was having a heart attack but when I arrived the heart had gone back into normal rhythm. I went to a cardiologist who ran three tests a 24 hour holter e.c.g, cardio call and echocardiogram. He diagnosed A.f. with flutter. He gave me a programme of drug treatment which started with Flecanaide. The condition seemed to worsen and I was advised to try Amirodiane. I was very apprehensive about this due to the potential side effects. I have been taking these drugs for three weeks with some slight improvement. I am keen to look at other options such as ablation because I don't want to take this medication long term. I live in England so perhaps some of the ideas from the medical profession may differ. In terms of my general health I suffer with asthma which restricts me with some of the medication. I would like to know what other members think about the cause of this as my cardiologist is very vague about it. I would also like to communicate with people who have taken Amirodiane long term. Please forgive any spelling errors I'm not too good on Latin names.
