Guest guest
I have been pondering the meaning of "balanced" for a long time now. I know when we are young, our own hormones fluctuate in response to triggers from glands and organs and even stress. I have no idea how we are to balance them when those triggers are no longer working. Even if I apply the same amount of estradiol every day, some days it works and some days I have to use more, some days less. I can never find a level doseage that works at all times, and maybe that's how it's supposed to be. I'm not speaking to your situation, which sounds HORRIBLE. I read the WP book and there but for the grace of God ... so happy some voice inside me said NUH UH, but I'm the kind of person who would fall for it. Just that nagging intution that wouldn't let me. Even without it, though, "balance" is elusive. Gael Liz, Thanks for the reply. I have been using WP creams in my own way..I cannot tolerate more than 2 lines of P. Oral P had me falling asleep! It came in handy at night though! Yes, I was using BHRT before WP. My symptoms would come back though. I felt that a "cycle" would be good..but so far, no period! I just wonder why. I am very tired of this WP crap. I want to find a good, accessible Dr to help me get balanced with natural hormones. Thanks, Terri
Guest guest
I am wondering what everyone's symptoms have been on the WP. I have been on WP since last Aug...and the P immediately made me a crazy person!!! I was told to use 50% less P. I still have not had a period, and they keep raising my E..I am on WP+5, have even used more than that. If I go down on the E now, I get hot flashes. The P is pure hell, I cry, get bloated, am a bitch, can't sleep..and on and on. If I use more than 2 lines of P, this is what happens. I am concerned that I have not bled..TS Wiley's people have told me I need more P!! Go to hell! It seems by bloodwork that my E converts to estrone more than estradiol. I have asked about my thyroid, my adrenals, etc., and am told my receptors are just not "awake" yet..right. I will not give up the E, as I will not suffer from the symptoms. BTW, I am only 50..last period was when I was 47. It's not like I have been in menopause for years and years! What could be going on with me????? Am I crazy??? I changed the subject line because I could not post any other way..sorry! Guest guest
Hi Terri, If it were me knowing what I know now, I would get off the WP. You might have to wean down on the E. I am now stuck at a high dose also – 6-8mg per day. It sucks. But I had a hyst so, I’m not concerned about my uterus. Have you had your lining checked? Were you using any hormones pre WP? You are not crazy. The protocol is not working. I struggled with it for a year before I went bonkers with extreme anxiety. It was crazy. I hate to say it but Iâ€ve never recovered. I’ve had one thing after another over the last 6 years and I blame it on the protocol. I don’t have proof but that’s when it all went to hell in a hand basket for me. I would look for someone who prescribes BHRT and go that route. Guest guest
I would go with what feels good until it doesn't. Right now the extra P seems to be helping you. So long as it's bio-identical, and you feel better on it, if it were me, and I'm no doctor, I would stay on it. Gael ok. you all got me scared! i am 35 and after saliva and other tests, my hormones showed elevated E and very low P. I am using a progesterone cream now and my very heavy periods turned to normal periods and my raging pms (really, ppmd) got better. but still, all the bad things I hear about P makes me scared. Would you say in my situation that it would be right for me? 4 years ago, one doctor put me on the vivelle patch during pms and that helped, too. got rid of the debilitating pms headaches. I'm confused! But at least now I know that the e is high, p is low. thanks!! Celty Re: HELP! Back when I took P (vaginal suppositories), along with estradiol, I had increasing health problems that we couldn't figure out - dizziness, vertigo, headaches, crying jags, bloating, to the point that I was scanned for a brain tumor. The P was supposed to protect my uterus, but it didn't, I ended up having a hysterectomy (uterus only) for complex hyperplasia with atypia. As soon as I stopped the P, the other symptoms went away. Gone, Overnight. Guest guest
I agree! If your periods normalized, and you feel better, then it's working for you right now. Now, in the future that could change, but then you'd be tested and go from there. Don't be scared, every BODY is different!! I am one who can't take P because it brings back the hot flashes that taking E reduces. I've now had two D & Cs in 2 years, one for a 11 mm lining amassed after taking mostly unopposed E though I took P until the flashes would return and then would back off. The second D & C (14mm lining) amassed while taking no E (I was taking herbs & supplements to help with flashes). So, who knows what that's all about. When I asked my gyn what was going on with all this lining build up she didn't have an answer since one was " blamed " on E and the other had no excuse. She said I might just have sensitive receptors in my uterus. She did say that as long as I didn't build up a lining she would have no problem with me taking E without P, otherwise, no way!
