Guest guest
Does anyone know why one's blood pressure would spike and then go to a low of l0l/48 ......which made me feel so awful? I went off Cozaar because of it going so low and not feeling great just today. Do any of these medicines coumadin, tambocor, toprol, and cozaar cause the bp to go spike up or what other thing should I look for? I am going to call my primary dr. Monday and for some reason my left side under my chin feels a little sore.....thinks its the cozaar...........would appreciate any help. Thanks Breta
Guest guest
I don't know why YOUR blood pressure could spike and then drop. However, there are forms of vaso vagal syncope, neurocardiogenic syncope, orthostatic hypotension, POTS etc with which this complaint is part and parcel. It is due to the vagus nerve and a form of dysautonomia. You don't actually need to pass out, but can feel very dizzy, weak, brain fogged and feel like you might. This is what they call presyncope. The reason that people pass out with it is that their blood pressure suddenly drops and the blood doesn't get to the brain. Hence you drop or feel lousy. I am convinced that this is a consideration with me. In some people it causes convulsion, but not all. If you think this may be the cause, you need a tilt table test. That way they can monitor drops in your blood pressure if the vagus nerve is concerned. I can't get one in my health area. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi, I realize I don't really understand how blood pressure works. The " normal " rate is 120/80 I was told. But does it flactuate the same as the pulse does? Does it go up when excercising and down when resting? Please help? I never paid much attention before Afib. /

Often my bp is higher when I go to my doctor, but this is quite usual and is known as " white coat hypertension " ! I don't think bp necessarily fluctuates in concert with the pulse so for example, you can't tell what your bp is from your pulse and vice versa. If your heart is racing away (and your cardiac ouput is high) then the pressure will also rise. (anxiety & stress are also known pressure raisers) I don't know what the good numbers are for each of these activities but don't expect it to be constant. all the best -- D
Guest guest
Blood pressure variates depending on a lot of factors. Go to http://www.e-cardiovascular.net/bp.html and http://www.vigueur.com.au/news.htm to find out how to get accurate reading over time when you do it at home. Hope this helps Fran > Hi, > I realize I don't really understand how blood pressure works. > The " normal " rate is 120/80 I was told. But does it flactuate the > same as the pulse does? My cardiologist said to get one around $60 to have a good one. I've seen them in stores and we got a new one from QVC that gives a voice readout...... check www.iqvc.com if you can order from them..... that is in US dollars. Best wishes, Bill
