I know that you addressed this to the other Joyce, but I will butt in. I use Acetylcysteine in my nebulizer. My pulmo says it is better to put it directly into the lungs. It smells! It does bring the mucus out, however.

Yes, I do use a nebulizer anyway. I neb Duoneb 4 times a day and I was doing Pulmicort until voice problems. So, I use the Acetylcysteine right after. It really works. I have a lot of mucus due to the Bronchiectasis.

, what do you pay for the liquid NAC? My insurance won't pay for anything that is a "supplement"....I'm considering the liquid because NAC is an ongoing requirement by my Dr. Then insurance will pay. Insurance! Bah, Humbug! Can't do with or without.

Oh. Thanks , I misunderstood. Thought YOU were taking the liquid. I too take the pill form. The price is real good through Puritan but over the years it amounts up to a lot.

Yes. When I do the numbers, it is cheaper and easier. I too buy in quantity. Did you say how long you have been on NAC and does it help you? It helps me.

Hi Sher I have been on NAC for over a year. Before I started it I would have a lot of mucus especially in the morning when I got up. Would set in kitchen for 1/2 hour coughing and waiting for o2 to come up. I now have virtually not mucus still the dry cough but NO mucus P UIP 8/00Sher K Bauman wrote: Yes. ...sounds like I used to be as well. I have no cough/mucus now. No more morning coughing and hacking!

I noticed a difference in a couple of weeks.
