Guest guest
I am just catching up on things-The mapping and ablation was done on November 27th-It took 9 hours and failed as I was back in affib 10 hours later-2 days later they did a 7 hour ablation and cured me of atrial flutter (I didn't know I had It) and they found the area in the pulmonary vein where the affib was coming from and ablated part of it and it failed as 2 hours later I was in affib-I was released several days later on an antiarrythmic drug flecanide (Tambocor) and Coumadin both of which I agreed to take for now-They feel that they are very close to getting rid of my affib and I am going to go back for a 3rd ablation later in January- Apparently I am a very complicated case-I have 6 pulmonary veins when normal is 4, my pulmonary veins are very twisty and hard to get into, and i have alot of foci causing the affib-I pray it works and that " three is a Charm " Jerry

Guest guest
My ablations Jerry, Now that exact problem has been located it looks like you're on the road to a permanent cure for once and for all. I wish you the very best of luck and hope the next time we hear from you that you'll be catagorised " ex-afibber " . In the meantime be careful about the Tambocor. I went on it at the beginning of last October and it send my liver enzymes sky high in no time. Otherwise it did the job and I could have coped with the side-effects that came with it. I am now back on old faithful Disopyramide ( sustained release) 250 mgms twice daily, for the the last four days, and keeping fingers crossed.
