I did and went home from the hospital at 1 p.m. I filled the prescription for Sotalol and was hanging on the cart at the drug store with heavy breathing. By midnight I thought sure I had a 50-50 chance of dying. It was if the oxygen had been sucked out of the air. I made it through the night by gulping as much air as I could. The next day the cardiologist put my on Rythmol with little success in the three weeks I've been on it. Incidentally, he knew I had asthma. He scheduled an appointment for 4 p.m. New Year's Eve which was rescheduled with a phone message two days ago to January 28th.I'm now considering seeing an electrophysioligist?. I used to think if I were a physician I'd be an anesthiolist (easy hours), a radiologist (just look at negatives) or a weight loss doctor (but little respect among other physicians). Now, however I'd be a cardiologist, see my patients a few minutes every few months and have great public respect and receive a huge income. > > Date: Sun, 30 Dec 2001 19:36:08 EST > From: Starfi6314@... > Subject: Re: Re: Sotatol (betapace-f) > > In a message dated 12/30/2001 10:33:19 AM Pacific Standard Time, > fross@... writes: > > << I did read somewhere (on this board I think) that men seem to > tolerate Sotalol better than woman. >

Let's all look for many better options in 2002!!! Happy New Year. Best wishes, Bill Utterback South San Francisco, CA
Guest guest
Hi there Although I am not new to AF, I am new to understanding it. I can relate to the breathing problems on sotalol. I was also having sleep apnoea with it. It worried the h**l out of my husband. And I would keep waking up gasping for air with a dizzy head. I don't have asthma though. Good luck with your appointment. I hope you get to see a good EP. I would join you as a cardiologist. Its getting quite interesting. I'm four days tablet free now. At the moment all is well. I don't want to tempt fate though. FRan > > > > Fran, > > I'm new to afib and my cardiologist gave my a huge amount of Sotalol to have me convert . Sometimes I think doc's don't have a clue as to what these medications do, even when you tell them. Talk about blinders.
