Guest guest
Elaine, I'm sorry it took me so long to get back with you, it has been a rough week. had her first heart surg. when she was 1 week old, she had a pulmonary band and a PDA ligation. Her open heart is timed according to when she outgrows the band around her pulmonary artery. They put the band on fairly snug to stop the lungs from getting flooded with blood, so she has less time because of that. They don't need her at a certain weight though. She is almost 7 mo. and weighs 12.8 lb. Last month we saw the cardiologist, and he said that by the way everything looks now, surgery should be in 6-9 months, unless she hits a big growth spurt, which despite all of my efforts, she hasn't done yet. Strangely enough, she has a large AV canal (this is her defect),but it's the feeding (reflux issues)that he believes is keeping her from weight gain, not her heart. , mother of Tyler (5), and (6mo.) charge
