Guest guest
Samento is currently the most commmon natural choice, but there are other choices. If you have the rash, the usual procedure is to get on antibiotics immediately. The problem with antibiotics is usually from long-term use; ridding the pathogens before they dig deep into tissues is the priority. Don't even wait days. It is not exactly known, but it is known that a few weeks is enough for the situation to turn chronic, as in a life-long peril of remissions and regressions. I am still looking into other natural choices. Many things have effects, but until I personally use them, I can not say how effective they are. Most will use Samento along with additional anti-bacterial herbs like barberry, elderberry, echinacea, grapefruit seed extract, pau d' arco, resveratrol, neem, etc. Here are some rash pictures: http://www.canlyme.com/patsymptoms.html Love and prayers, Heidi N > > What natural bacterials can I use to make sure he won't get Lyme's, Bartonella, or Ehrlichia? Guest guest
I agree, if you suspect the tick was carrying lyme, you really need to take him to a doctor. The anitibiotics are only effective the first two weeks of exposure, after that it's a long, tough battle on your hands. Some docs will even Rx it without a test just to be on the safe side because the tests normal docs use are so unreliable. Our doc did that for us when we found ticks on us and he just said not to even chance it, just do it. Guest guest
Thanks for your help. I'll call our DAN tomorrow and see what he thinks. Another question, though, Will an antibiotic help if it's Rocky Mountain/Ehrlichia or something other than Lyme's? It wasn't a deer tick that transmits Lyme's, but a Dermacentor. Thanks, again! Guest guest
If you found a tick and a rash you need to take him to the doctor. You don't have very long to hit it with antibiotics before lyme is cronic. Fighting that is not any easier than working on autism. Lots of special diets and supplements. Go to the doctor please!! Guest guest
This is something that I would even say go to your ped for. When we had ticks, we went to our family doctor. Believe me, if you see the rash, get the antibiotics ASAP from the quickest person you can see. Even if it means going to the ER.And to carry Lyme, it doesn't have to be a deer tick - it just happens to be the most common carrier. But also know that any of the other conditions you mentioned are also bacterial. Cheryl~http://www.gryffins-tail.blogspot.com~@midian42~ Oh, he's already autistic. Guest guest
Our DAN told us a few yrs ago that if the tick has been embedded less than 24 hrs Lyme is not a significant problem. But you may wanna double-check me on that, there may be newer info out now. HTH, Debi -

Guest guest
Yes I know, I don't even know how much we spend on supplements between my son and husband(lyme). I won't figure it out. But the lyme will make your son worse. It knocked my husband on his a**. Seriously. He would crash as soon as he got home, no strength, depressed, all the other physical crap. Go to a regular doctor or PA if you can't see your DAN. I feel antibiotics are really necessary. Guest guest
Lyme is a clinical diagnoses. The tests come back false negative all the time. We live in a lyme endemic area and the doctors treat without testing all the time. It doesnt' have to be a deer tick, that is just the most common carrier, but all ticks can carry it as well as fleas and mosquitoes (though some will argue that). Also our Lyme booklet says that the same antibiotics can be used for Rocky Mtn. fever and the other infections. Rocky Mtn is suppose to clear up easier and faster than lyme, so it would actually be better if it was that. Guest guest
Heidi, you are so right. My husband was diagnosed in September of 2008, but it is assumed that he contracted in the spring of that year if not before. He has been on cycles of antibiotics (along with supplementing on his own) and special diet ever since. He just had a cycle of the rash again and nerve problems in his legs. He is coming to accept that he is probably chronic and will be infected for the rest of his life. Not what we were hoping for obviously. There is a small window for treating lyme and ridding yourself of it. You have to move fast or it will be a chronic condition. To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Friday, May 29, 2009 8:37:36 AMSubject: Found tick and rash on my son, help! I am soooo about all natural treatments but I believe that when you initially find a tick bit and bulls eye spot you need to get antibiotics on board ASAP if you want a chance at killing the bacteria. If you miss this window, it will more than likely be a long time fighting the bacteria, if it ever gets under control. Guest guest
Tick rashes don't last but a brief moment. The absence of the rash means nothing. Any germs are still there. Love and prayers, Heidi N THanks CHeryl. His rash disappeared the next morning. Do you think I still need to have him seen? I called his doc, but they didn't want to do antibiotics-he does really bad on them; part of what made us lose him altogether to the autism. BUt, I haven't tried them in 3 years and he wasn't on the probiotics that he is on now. I am certainly willing to try them to keep Lyme's or something else getting in and wreaking more havoc. I will keep an eye on the area and if the rash comes back, I will get him to the ER if I have to. Thanks for your advice!Rhonda Discover the variety of Bisquick® mix. Get Recipes Savings Now. Guest guest
Rhonda: Most feel it's best to have at least 4 weeks of antibiotics like vancomycin and there are others. This is for a new infections. After a few weeks without treatment, you are talking years on antibiotics. Everyone is different, but pleomorphic bacteria like lyme is challenging. Think of HIV being a plemorphic virus, which it is. Sorry to scare you, most with lyme do not die from it, just are very sick, but realize that pleomorphic pathogens are very tricky to defeat or rather keep under control. I am not sure of the protocol for antibiotic treatment in children. If your doctor does not have it handy, she/he can call Dr. Ray and he will tell your doctor how to treat. You can google and find his number. Love and prayers, Heidi N Wow, thanks for letting me know that. I thought the rash was there for a long time. Guest guest
Tick rashes come and go. My husband cycles every 3-4 weeks and he has been on anti-biotics for 9 months. The lifecycle of the bacteria changes it's form and so you don't always see it. Having gone and then come back probably means you missed your treatment window. Not to be doom and gloom but this is really serious. Lyme is a spriochette. It bores into your tissues, joints, membranes, etc. and kind hide out. You might be more aware of Syphillis? Also a spriochette. They do spinal taps to test for it and it is know to pass from mother to fetus. So is lyme, but some people still try to argue that. My point is that these type of bacteria can get in deep and the longer you wait the harder it is to actually affect them. My husband knows two people who had to get pacemakers because of lyme infection in their hearts. One of them went undiagnosed for so long that the bacteria is systemic, they can take a biopsy from anywhere on his body and see the bacteria in one form or the other. I hope your son doesn't have it, but like I said a lot of doctors here will treat with anti-biotics for 3 weeks if there is a chance of it just to try to make sure it doesn't take hold.
