>Now I am trying to remember -- do you take your beta blocker only

when needed? Some musician friends of mine with NO heart problems

whatsoever take a beta blocker to control " stage fright " when they

are performing. I guess it must have a calming effect, though I

don't remember feeling that way when I was taking propanolol.

I tried 2-3 times to do away with the beta blocker and take it only

when an attack started. With my cardio's okay, of course. Doesn't

seem to be an option for me - I tend to go into afib within a month

or two when I'm off toprol, whereas when I take the toprol all the

time, I seem to be able to keep it more at bay.

I am still hoping that improving my cario fitness may help and let me

get to that stage.

I do notice a calming effect from toprol, although not as pronounced

as when I first started on it. I tried atenolol for a day or so and

didn't have the calming effect at all. There really do seem to be

differences in beta blockers.

This is a good place to ask, but www.drugstore.com also has a drug

interaction checker in its pharmacy tab. I just mention this because when

you have multiple meds, the more meds, the less likely you will find a lot

of people taking just that combo.
