Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have had a couple of learning lessons that you may appreciate knowing. First, I had a nice morning with Don. He wanted to be grouchy, and I lead him to the dining hall where we were going to have music, after coffee. He became down right nice and happy. Last week I was chased out of a meeting at the NH and not too nicely either, and didn't know why. I asked THE DON why, later, and was told it was for patients only. I didn't know that. I have coffee with the patients and then they get up and go to the library. Uh Oh private. The DON was very nice and patient in explaining to me. Today, I took pictures of the dining hall, and the owner called me into his office. Oh no what have I done now? He was very nice, and explained that taking photos was not done as it was for the patient's privacy, and that he used to post who the residence were in the local paper at Christmas time, so that long lost friends could find them. He quickly learned that wasn't allowed by State regulations. If I wanted pictures I would have to go around to each person in the dining hall, and get a signed release in order for me to take their pictures. I told him I will give him the pictures and negatives. And, I will. He said he trust me. It was a small one time use camera and I thought better of developing them at all and told him he could have the camera. He told me to keep the camera. He trust me not to release the pictures. I'll give them to him. I sure am learning the do's and don'ts of the place. I guess an institution has to be careful to follow State rules, and because of a possible lawsuit. I was fine yesterday morning and crashed later in the day, and I feel just about the same way today. I can't handle bringing Don to the apartment as the long day is too exhausting for me. We had a wonderful time singing with the one man band that comes in on Tuesday morning. I also helped Don get up several times, to a wobbling start, and after he stabilized, I stood three or four times and danced with him. Well, we held hands and swung back and forth. I sing so loud I can be heard with the man on the mike. Someone thanked me later for helping to make it a more fun party. Don sure liked it. So anyway be fun with them, that is allowed, but don't crash their private grievance meeting, and don't take pictures of the dining hall with other people eating.
