Hang in there! you're being smart to do the diet-- have you also eliminated the foods he's reacting to (based on the food allergy test- Great Plains) and some common bad stuff is corn and peanut even if the test does not show it. BEst to keep a daily food/behavior diary to keep track.

My girl is also almos impervious to physical pain, but the MB12 will help with that (you're awakening nerves).

Not all kids are viral or have the yeast, bacteria etc. As you look at your family history and your kid's own history, you will know where he needs the most help. My girl does not seem to have mercury issues, but did test positive for lead. So we're now chelating with that in mind. Before doing that though, we've done all we can to heal her gut.

Get hold of 's book, it's very helpful.

Luz

Anti-fungal/viral treatment

Hi,I've been reading a lot of your msgs on the fungal/viral treatment for ASD kids and I must admit it's a lot to digest. I'm not quite sure why valtrex(used for the herpes virus) is beneficial for ASD kids...I may have missed the info in earlier messages. I'm starting my 14 year old on Enhansa and detoxing at the same time using a detox machine with negative ions. He just started on the GFCF diet(a month now) again and seems to be coping. He has been bedwetting for a while now and I wonder if there are any parents out there who may be able to shed light on this issue... Also, he sweats quite excessively especially on his hands and one thing that's really bothering me is this- he doesn't flinch when he gets his B12 injections from his DAN doctor! I've been told it's because his nerves are terribly damaged or anaesthesized all these years. Anyone, please share as I'm quite overwhelmed with his situation right now....

I don't think they are specifically talking about genital herpes. There are several different herpes viruses, some of which most people carry around with seemingly no problems. The theory seems to be that these viruses are overloading our kids for some reason. That being said if you are a carrier of genital herpes your doctor should have had you on Valtrex the last 3-4 weeks of pregnancy to prevent transmission during birth. You can be having an "internal" outbreak and not know it, thus shedding the virus and passing it on to your baby.

So does this mean that if I have the herpes virus, then there's a chance that it may have passed on to the ASD kid during vaginal delivery ? Although I always thought the virus needed to be active ie. a flare up for it to transmit. I don't see any signs of it in my son....gee, I never considered this probability !> >> "...I'm not quite sure why valtrex(used for the herpes virus) is> beneficial for ASD kids>> > because viruses are one of main underlying causes of

Don’t be discouraged b/c you are starting at this

age! I am helping the mother of a 19 y/o who was having horrific seizures

(in the ER twice a week!!) and very aggressive behavior, self-injurious,

etc. She just started him on the diet four months ago, also is doing fish

oil, digestive enzymes, probiotics, etc. with HUGE success. His seizures

have stopped, he is calmer - he actually smiled at her the other day –

which of course, was amazing. My son is 15 and I feel badly that you

weren’t able to find appropriate services years ago.

The GREAT news is that today, we all have much more info

available to us. I never heard of viruses, bacteria and all the other

stuff that is discussed today back when our kids were little. I am

learning so much and yes, starting over a little b/c when we did things like

chelation, we didn’t do them correctly. We did DMG without folinic

acid so our kids were hyper, and we thought it wasn’t working -

- and so on. My son also was thin as a rail when we started GFCF –

we had to learn how to get the good fats into him. Also, the digestive

enzymes help GREATLY with fat absorption.

I am excited for you and hope to help anyway I

can. Heidi J

Thanks for sharing everyone....it certainly has

shed light on the virus angle for me which I never looked into. Will have to

talk to our Dan doctor about starting on Valtrex. I'm starting from scratch so

this is going to be a looooonnng journey for us. When my son was diagnosed at

age 3(he's turning 14 next week), we didn't have many avenues except for the

usual speech and OT. ABA wasn't even an option then as there was hardly any one

offering it. Eventually, he was started on ABA but not intensive.

He was put on the GFCF diet but it didn't last long as the tantruming and the

weight loss was too much to handle. We gave another 2 trys before giving it up

altogether. He had single words till about 18 mths then was non verbal till 5.5

years. He was later diagnosed with both verbal and motor dyspraxia at age

6.....till today, his articulation is not as clear. So at age 14, we have a lot

more to do....sigh

Hi there,

I just wanted to share a website with you that may bring you some kind of

encouragement in what I'm sure if a stressful time right now.

www.enzymestuff.com There are TONS of experiences and suggestions I really think

you'd enjoy reading.

Going along with what Heidi said, enzymes and probiotics can be a huge help to

children with autism. There really are some amazing stories of the many

improvements and hope enzymes have given to so many families.

I hope this doesn't sound like I'm pushing anything on you, honestly I just want

to help out in some kind of way. I can send you some samples for you to try

maybe even on yourself first, then maybe start low and slow later on giving them

to your son.

I hope even if not by me that you're feeling a little bit better. And I wish the

best to you and your family. :)

Hi Talyna,

Sure, I'll definitely take a look at the website you suggested..it's a start to

educating myself on enzymes and their benefits. Everyone who responded to my

posting has uplifted me with encouragement and generosity of information and I'm

grateful for the kindness in this group. Thank you ! :-)

Best Regards....
