Hey Steph,

We had never treated my little girl for any anti-viral prior to doing Lauricidin per her DAN at the time. I would totally recommend an anti-yeast/anti-bacterial on board while you do it. We did not have either on board an she went bonkers. It was horrible of the regression. I don't know if I would of seen gains if we would of toughed it out, but she was a mess. Her pre-school teacher thought she had regressed back to the level from when we started school. :( She was very emotional, fogged out, short fused, and throughing tantrums. It was really bad. I called her new DAN and asked for an anti-fungal and he started her on 200mg Diflucan for 10 days and at the 3rd day she was more even killed. She was on a stricked SCD diet and her OAT we did in February was the best one we had ever seen. Everything was within normal limits. Well, we did an OAT around the same time all of this regression

from the Lauricidin took place and her OAT was the worse it has ever been. She has never had issues with Clostridia and even her Clostridia marker was like in the 500's. I was so aggrevated and distraught, but I had forgot that everyone said when you treat viral alone then it causes yeast/bacteria flare ups. This was definitely the case for us as this was the only change we had made since February. We did stop it also when we started her on the Diflucan. She did some viral lab testing and everything they tested her for came back negative. I know that doesn't mean a lot since a lot of kids that benefit from anti-virals also have negative testing on the labs.

Good luck!

What should I expect if I want to try Lauricidin with my son? Is there a healing regression expected. We did the 60 day trial of Valtrex and it was not fun. Steph T.

First of all, we have only used monolaurin which is essentially the same as

lauricidin, which is processed from coconut oil. Although it has anti-viral

properties, it also has anti-yeast & anti-bacterial. Even so, I don't believe

the amount of anti-viral properties are so strong in this preparation that it

would cause the type of response that you are talking about.

For the past 4 months our daughter has had some yeast & clostridia issues (more

related to her being on long term abx until January. But let me tell you that

what has really worked for her - completely stopped her itching, seeing spots in

front of eyes & aggressive behavior - is daily doses of s.boulardii and even

more importantly - kefir. goat milk kefir is most convenient and even those on

casein free diets can use it. But I've also used young coconut water kefir (you

have to make it yourself). Google it on how to make. Honestly, since I've

started using these things, her intestinal flora has balanced itself (there are

tons of good bacteria in kefir). Soooo much better than taking all these potent

meds. that when getting rid of one thing, cause an aggravation of another.
