after dealing with Medicaid over the years and my experience with 'spend down', it sounds about right. She has 'extra income' (as they view her support $$) and you are not allowed that much monthly income as a single person - at least that's how it works in Michigan. If she had SSDI as her only income, it would be different.

a ...... in Michigan

That has to be wrong. I would question it.

Yes, I received notice today that I was approved for Medicaid. Yeehaa! BUT it says my spend down is $1471 a month. My income is less than that per month. So how can I pay that per month when I don't have that much coming in? I get $1181 a month with SSDI and support. What good is it for me to have it?

Thanks,

Shirley

p.s. sorry I've been lerking. Between the house, divorce (Steve's laywer is wanting a lot of info from me), Steve wanting to now do taxes jointly (now I have to find all of my deductions), and healthwise not real good I just have been pulled too many directions. But I've been thinking of you all.
