Guest guest
Barry, the only thing we are doing is tracking the CAP ourselves per patient. This of course only tells us what we have used and not what may have been used somewhere else. We do this by CPT codes and the amount per code. We of course combine ST and PT amounts and track OT separately. Joyce Bates The Summit Health & Rehab SErvices
Guest guest
: APTA is the best resource. There are a number of initiatives regarding the issues you mentioned. The Government Affairs office of APTA is lobbying daily and supports members in their lobbying efforts by providing talking points and information. Hawaii's Federal Government Affairs representative just attended the Federal Gov. Affairs Forum in April and Marched with the rest of us on Capital Hill. Get active in your state association and APTA. If you are a member you can sign up for legislative alerts from APTA. This goes for any PT on this list. If you want to effect change get involved. APTA is respected on Capital Hill. If you are a member of APTA, the Congressmen and Senators know you will be well informed and use their time wisely. I know that the " Medicare Prescription Drug Legislation " delayed implementation until Dec 2005. Since that legislation, I have heard nothing on the Medicare Cap. It appears that " direct access " is the priority of APTA and much has been out on this legislation. I practically have not seen or heard anything in regards to the Cap. Is language to abolish the cap an amendment to the direct access legislation? Why isn't the " Cap " a priority anymore? Am I mistaken? The impact of the CAP is huge for my practice since we treat seniors specifically. I have already written our congressmen multiple times. Any info would be helpful.
