Wow, what type of insurance policy do you have? It sounds awful.

Not to question your understanding of the policy, but does it really limit your coverage to $2000 per year? Usually policies indicate that a patient's liability is only up to $2000 a year. And, after bills exceed $2000, then the insurance covers 100%.

How in the world do any of afford this? My insurance will cover it with a $50 copay which is good. The bad thing is that I have a $2000 Rx cap. An Rx for Avonex is running, on average, $1300! Means that with my first Rx fill I am at my cap because I have other meds I fill. Not to mention, heaven forbid, I get sick and need something non-MS related! I am so stressed right now! I just want to crawl under a rock and cry!

There are some organizations that will help you with the cost of co-pays if you qualify. I'll send an email to the group about that in a little while. Sharon Re: Avonex users

What are CAM's? Kathi

Re: Avonex users

Unfortunately, it is a $2000 cap that the company will pay up to that. Then it's a 100% my cost. I'm screwed. Gonna try CAM's for awhile.

I don't understand why my drugs are so high. I have Humana with Medicare Part D and my betaseron just cost me $1618.57. When I get to Level 4, it will be down to around $80. I do admit that it's all incredibly confusing....the new Part D. How can you find out what's the best way to go? Kathi

FW: Re: Avonex users

I chose a plan that doesn't have the gap. My monthly co-pay for Copaxone is $5.45 and the co-pay on my other meds is $2.15 each. Spent nearly a week going over all the plans that AARP offered before choosing 1 that didn't have the coverage gap. My monthly premium is around $30 plus what I have to pay for Medicare parts A & B

a ...... in Michigan

What do you do during the coverage gap? I hope you have additional help with your meds.Sharon
