Dr. JM as well as list mates: I TOTALLY AGREE wiht everything in this

article. I also think in our case that monitoring the level can be

useful. Em is currently taking 8000 IU a day.( she wieghts just 50lbs) We

get sooo little sun this time of year. In the summer I give her much less,

between 2000-4000 IU a day. Her Levels are " just " 66... which now from

this lastest Cannell article, seems pretty Ideal. I had been shooting for a

level of 80, due to her immune system and health issues.

My friends( of supposedly nureotypical kids) all joke that I am the " lead

Diva " Becasue I know so much about lead poisoning, and now they laugh

because I sing the praises of Vitamin D, but it did truly change our lives.

By the way, that includes my life as well. I used to get really, umm, I

guess it would be depressed in the winter ( which by the way in Maine lasts

FOREVER!), but most significantly craving warm weather and sunshine.

seasonal affective lights did NOTHING. I started taking vit. D and that ALL

changed. It was really amazing.

I know I am preaching to the chior, but thought I would share.

Thanks so much for posting Dr. JM!!

My Vit D was checked and it was 18 and our daughter's was 25. We were told

that I needed to supplement but our daughter was fine (within limits). I

certainly thought the numbers were low but the doctor's didn't seem very

concerned. Well, mine was a little but our daughter's doctor didn't bat an

eye. Our daughter is 16, autism, epilepsy and delayed puberty.
