Ciprofloxacin S not for under age 18 ruled this one

out

Trimeth-sulfa S only one left was the Bactrim to try

We decided to use a 10 dose of Bactrim Single dose tablets

my son's rx is 1 tablet single strength Sulfamethoxazole/TMP SS T 2 x

day for 10 days

I gave the first dose of antibiotic on Tuesday night with dinner

around 7 p.m Son woke up about 2:00 a.m. to go to the bathroom...

vomited all over the floor and had a temp 102 and a bad headache in

the front center of his head eyes looked bloodshot. He snuggled back

down in bed and had a restless sleep until 8:00 a.m waking 2x to

urinate and get a drink but no more vomiting

kept him home from school on Wed. called DAN! and she said hold off

on second dose until the next day and try again. Headache persisted

treated with Motrin and he slept off and on all morning by mid

afternoon was feeling better, headache gone, eyes still a little red,

hurt to shake his head but not to move it side to side. ate normally

by dinner time. By bedtime completely back to normal. Woke up fine

Thursday. and went to school, had one of his best days at school yet

this year.

I decided to wait until Thursday night to try again incase he would

start vomiting so he wouldn't have that experience at school. Gave

one tablet with dinner on Thursday night but he sneakily didn't take

it along with his other supplements he left it in the little cup I

use consequently I found it at bedtime when getting ready to give

probiotics. So this second dose was taken at around 8:30 p.m with a

cracker to have food in his tummy. Went to sleep fine and slept until

5:00 a.m when he woke me up really thirsty and running a temp of

102.2, headache back and bloodshot eyes.

So....... I'm keeping him home from school again today, my questions

are?

is this a bad reaction to the medication and should I stop again or

is this evidence the medication is killing something off the Kevsiella

oxytoca and triggering an immune response in his body?

I'll be calling my Dan! again as soon as her office opens but would

appreciate any thoughts from the list or comments if you've seen this

with your own kids in response to a medication or die off

Thanks,
