Guest guest
/anyone, According to pollen.com, the allergy/pollen count has been getting lower over the past two weeks and he is getting worse. He does have behavioral issues with the first of the seasonal allergens- the last time it hit the end of August (ragweed). And then he usually has problems in February (I blame it on Mardi Gras). Has anyone seen a down-slide in focus/brightness/eye contact and worsening of dark circles with an anti-fungal change? We changed anti-fungals about a month ago. (He's been on his anti-viral for a couple months now.) Thanks for the help! - in Mobile, AL __________________________ Reality lies beyond the horizon... Guest guest
Hi , YES...definitely saw a down-slide with antifungal switch. My son had been on Nizoral for " quite some time. " Every time Dr G mentioned switching, I would also say it seems he does really well on Nizoral, and he said it does have some extra neuro-immune benefits so we would extend a little longer. We switched to Diflucan and it was almost immediately recognized....he had lower appetite and a general down- slide in overall health and energy. And yes definitely dark circles. We reported this to Dr G and he told us to try IMGG. He had his 1st shot last Saturday. Seriously, starting Monday afternoon, we have seen such a " pop " in him...more energy, more motivation, more fluent language...we keep saying " has to be the shot " He still has 2 more shots to go, one in 2 weeks, and then the 3rd 3 weeks after that one. Another thought on allergies (sorry this is getting so long). We realized earlier in the summer that allergies were a big problem with our family this year. I realized I actually felt better about 5 minutes after I was out of my house. After alot of research and consultations this summer we have learned 2 very imporatnt things: 1) our home Indoor Air Quality is terrible because we have the home so locked up we never get fresh air in the house. We are adding *filtered* ventilation to our home to make the indoor pollutants less concentrated. And 2) our air conditioner coil is a mess, you can smell it actually. The company rep has told us it is growing bacteria, it needs to be replaced, and then we need to clean it 2-3 times per season going forward. I tell you this because in our case I am starting to beleive our indoor issues (as well as the ones at with air quality at school) are as big of a problem as pollens. Whew, sorry I went off! Hope this helps, > > > > > Is there a link to the diet Dr. Goldberg > > recommends? > > > > > > > > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been > > removed] > > > > > > > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been > > removed] > > > > > > __________________________________________________________ > Take the Internet to Go: Go puts the Internet in your pocket: mail, news, photos & more. > http://mobile./go?refer=1GNXIC > > > > >
Guest guest
We just did our first shot of gamastan (gamugloblin sp?), and WOW! My son was noticing family photos on the wall this morning, and knew who everyone was, even though they are baby pictures! He has been very alert since the shot (just Friday night), and TALKING so much! Is this possible from the shot? He also has a 'buzz' about him, bouncing from one thing to the next and humming (does this when excited). Kristy Re: diet/medication Hi , YES...definitely saw a down-slide with antifungal switch. Guest guest
Ours was not covered. It was about $50/shot, plus ~$25 shipping (for two doses) from the specialty pharmacy that actually had it in stock (local pharmacies could not get it). Guest guest
It looks like we, too, will eventually be doing this. Is it covered by insurance? I know IVIG is not covered in a lot of policies unless there is an antibody deficiency but I'm hoping that those of you that have already done IMIG had it covered... cheryl On Oct 14, 2007, at 10:46 AM, Kristy Nardini wrote: > We just did our first shot of gamastan (gamugloblin sp?), and WOW! > My son > was noticing family photos on the wall this morning, and knew who > everyone > was, even though they are baby pictures! Guest guest
Cheryl Yes it was covered by our Rx insurance, and I was amazed it was just called in to the pharmacy and we picked it up later in the week. (They had to order it in.) We also used EMLA cream! I think it helped too. > > > > > > > > > Is there a link to the diet Dr. Goldberg > > > > recommends? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been > > > > removed] > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been > > > > removed] > > > > > > > > > > > > > > __________________________________________________________ > > > Take the Internet to Go: Go puts the Internet in your > > pocket: mail, news, photos & more. > > > http://mobile./go?refer=1GNXIC > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
We had the same thing happen w/our AC coil. It was growing mildew! I'm very sensitive to that smell but I didn't smell it then - maybe due to refrigeration? Or diluted by the time it made it out of the vents. I only picked up a vague musty smell that few people would catch. We used a good sterilizing chemical (Proforce I think?) several times on the coil and this did seem to help a good deal. I wish I could afford the UV sterilization treatment of vents/duct work, but that won't happen anytime soon. Nor do I know if it's really effective or not. Guest guest
We injected my poor son in his sleep (no EMLA cream). He never woke up, but he did say, " Ow, ow, ow! " in his sleep. Guest guest
More wows yesterday....he cleaned up his toys by himself, and I had only asked ONCE! And, he ate a new food for dinner (albeit after tears, and it still wasn't the veggie burger I made first). Dr. G prescribed the gamastan and we got it from Friendly Hills pharmacy (Dr. G works with them a lot). Kristy Re: diet/medication > >Hi , > YES...definitely saw a down-slide with antifungal switch. Guest guest
Hey - I didn't answer this at first ... instead, I started my son back on Diflucan (we only have a couple of weeks worth unfortunately, but that really should be fine). I had mentioned the bright eyes lately (I think) and how he doesn't even have circles under them. He actually came to me, said his tongue was hurting, and said " You need to give me one of those pink pills " lol! Doctor Garrett. Well all I could run down was the salmon colored generics - lost track of any of the white versions. For two weeks, I thought he can handle a little of that one since it didn't seem he reacted as much to that one as to the true light pink. Next morning after the first pill - there were little circles. One could question whether it was the onset of mild thrush beginning (after clindomycin, which BTW was an excellently tolerated antibiotic), but I do think it was the dye/generic. In my opinion, the benefits of Diflucan for this child tends to outweigh any negatives for this short of a period whether the dye sets him off or not. But when we were on Diflucan for long term, I do believe I found the additional $50 I was paying to compound and ship from Friendly Hills was a worthy investment, if you're not already doing so. Wait - that was prior to generics when I was paying $350/mo plus! lol. I wouldn't pay that much a month for a CAR. We've had lots of times where brightness slips, eye contact slips, etc, especially w/my youngest one lately. I usually cannot identify a trigger although I can suspect lots, but it's not associated w/any meds because he's not currently on anything but an allergy pill. His circles get worse for sure, too. In that kid, they've never gone away. If it makes you feel any better - both boys always pulled out of it and " come back " . But it IS torture while it happens. Gosh.
