Guest guest
My 18 year old son went in to see Dr. Hartig last week with the main complaint of general fatigue and somewhat depressed moods. The nurse called back and said he was to make an appt. with an endocrinologist about low testosterone and low B-12 results. I just got my hands on his lab report. I have been suffering (and I stress that word!) from Hashi's/hypo since he was born. Of course, I figured he had inherited my thyroid troubles. Can anybody out there help me out? I will post the " important " labs, but if you need something else...let me know! (To be honest, I wasn't real impressed with the office staff in Hartig's office...took almost 10 days before the nurse called back with results...and then 3 more phone calls for them to fax the lab report. Grrrr.) Guest guest
If his testosterone is low that can throw off the thyroid. It is very possible that it would help him. But you need to really talk to the doctor about it all. And yes the B-12 is low, needs to be above 500. Guest guest
Ok, I don't get it. Why did Hartig run thyroid hormone tests, run an ANA test, but didn't run thyroid antibody tests to go along with the thyroid hormone tests? This just doesn't make sense to me. I feel like being all over her right now already because she did prescribe my friend and coworker Tricor (for cholesterol), after ALREADY KNOWING that she was suffering from Cirrhosis of the liver. She was a Graves patient. I just found this out in the last two weeks, but waited to post this until I got all the facts. Well, I got ALL the facts, and what she did just didn't make sense. The liver processes and makes all cholesterols and sends it out, but the main warning about Tricor and drugs like it is DON'T PRESCRIBE IT TO PEOPLE WITH HEP AND/OR CIRRHOSIS, and what does SHE do? You guessed it, and I am very angry about it! My friend's son researched it cause he already knew this, but offered her the proof, and she hasn't taken even one dose of it and won't! She also got scared and knocked my friend's thyroid down from 300 mcgs of T4 to 137 mcgs, mainly because her liver won't process all this stuff, instead of giving her a combination T4/T3 combo (cause your liver doesn't have to convert the T3, it's already done), or Armour Thyroid, like she has done with some other people. It just doesn't make sense, this double standard she has. I did question my friend very closely, and she says that she never ever mentioned putting her on anything but synthetic T4. We think that she got the Cirrhosis from all the high powered drugs she had to have about 3 yrs ago, in order to save her leg from being amputated on acct of the flesh eating bacterial infection she got from somewhere in a hospital where she had had a gall bladder surgery just months before she started having symptoms of an infection. She almost lost her life from the infection, but didn't lose her limb, but what a price to pay. Cirrhosis is a killer, and she doesn't drink, hasn't for yrs. Why would she be dumping your son into the hands of an endo, it just doesn't make sense. As you can tell, I'm fuming. 18 year old son lab results...help! > My 18 year old son went in to see Dr. Hartig last week with the main > complaint of general fatigue and somewhat depressed moods. Guest guest
Gee, I dont know what to think after reading these posts. I have had no problems with Hartig so far, or her staff. Infact, when I wanted to double my armour, I just called in, gave my pharmacy number, and it was done by end of day. I was also told I could wait 30-60 days and come back to see her. I know when I was there she stressed she was not an expert in this, and she didnt want people to think she was as capable in this area as an endo would be, but she knows her limits, seems willing to listen to anything you bring her, and to learn more. With me and synthroid she said it wasnt working, and I shouldnt bother fiddling with its dosage any more. I would think she would know about the cirrohis contraindication with the drug you mentioned . THat is concerning.. Also, she re-ran several of my tests, including antibodies, b12, dhea, cortisol. So I dont know what the reason behind ordering or not-ordering tests is.. --- wrote: > Ok, I don't get it.
