Guest guest
Donna: Check message number 18110 for the stages. You need to scroll down a bit to get to them but they're all there. Careful, the stages pertain to dementia and not necessarily LBD but they're still pretty applicable. Hope this helps. When I first went there my dad seemed to fit into several stages but he's more near the end stages now (yet he does have these good days where he seems more mid-level. The fluctuations really drive me wild...) Like Josie, I worry about the feeding tubes. I understand why they want to place them in but I wonder if they make the quality of the ill person's life any better. Personally, I think not after watching my uncle struggle with them in for 9 months but I realize this is a family decision and one that you need to be comfortable with in the long run. Sending you strength and hugs, Abby
Guest guest
Donna: Look up message # 18110. They sent it to me at the beginning of my dad's diagnosis. Go to the end of a very long message, and yo will find the stages of dementia, not LBD, but it helps, Josie
Guest guest
Donna, You are the only one that decide about the feeding tube thing. It is not recommended by most of the Hospice people I have talked to. Have you consulted Hospice yet?? They can be a real help and even evaluate your Dad and see if they think he is ready. If you get a good Hospice, they will be a real support no matter what you do. I think if you put Hospice into your search engine, you may be able to find some of their info too. I went to a work shop at the Alzheimers Association and they brought Hospice in to answer questions. Donna R.

We aren't thinking Hospice - because this really only started two weeks ago when the hopital gave him Haldol ! 4 weeks ago he was shuffling his way to the bathroom alone ... then he went into hosp for UTI and thats when we went downhil. They're thinking this could justhelp build up his strength. thanks donna
