Guest guest
Hi there friends! Happy New Year to everyone - old timers like me and new members too! I say 'happy' new year but in my heart I know that with LBD there is nothing 'happy' at all!!! So I rephrase that ..... I wish you all (each and every one) love, comfort and support as some of us mourn the loss of our darling loved ones, and others battle on against this hideous monster. Our trip to South Africa was phenomenal!!! It was truly the trip of a lifetime. My head is still 'buzzing' with all the sights, sounds and smells of the place! There is SO much to tell you .... but I need to process my thoughts first! I'll need to reflect and assimilate before I bore you with all the detail!!! On return yesterday there was a letter waiting from the Brain Bank with the final results of the autopsy on my dad's brain. So I have the indisputable diagnosis. My dad died of 'Dementia with Lewy Bodies' and nothing else. No Alzheimer's. No Parkinson's. The report says - and I quote - 'PURE' Lewy Body Dementia. His brain was riddled with it. He never stood a chance. All that fiddling and experimenting with the drugs was a waste of time. It might have even been detrimental I wonder? So - I know for sure and feel I have an answer at last. I have been invited to London to meet with the clinicians to ask any questions I might have. I shall go. I have PLENTY to ask!!! I shall also arm myself with all the info about this group. You might like me to ask questions on your behalf? Think about it and let me know - there's no rush. It is MIGHTY strange to be back in the cold, grey, wet winter after the fabulous sunshine and heat of SA. I'm off to refill my hot water bottle!!!! Hugs to each I've missed you guys .... I'm glad to be back on line. Sally xx
