Guest guest
Hi! I've had ME for 6yrs now. I stopped working 4yrs ago and right now am more or less housebound. I get periods where I seem to be getting better, but then I'll have a relapse and slowly have to climb back up again. Right at the beginning when I was being diagnosed, I was told my iron was low and I was given supplements. They irritated my digestive system, so I was given a lower dose (Preg-a-Day). Then last year my Dr told me that I needed to take Folic Acid, so I took that. In the last few months I have been feeling really bad. I had a very bad relapse in January, so at first I thought I was just getting over that, but I have been having stroke like symptoms and chest pains. I also feel wiped out in one second, even if I'm not doing anything, like my blood pressure just drops. My memory is at it's worst (I never had any memory problems), and I feel confused and agitated at times. So I spoke to my Dr and he sent me for more blood tests. My Dr called me up a few days later and told me I need to take B12, Folic Acid and iron. I'm on kids iron syrup (absolutely vulgar!) and taking tablets of the other 2. What worries me the most is I eat a diet very rich in all 3 of these and shouldn't be deficient. Does anyone else have to take these? Does that mean my symptoms are just anemia and not ME? Or is the anemia caused by ME? Or are the 2 not related? I'm sorry if I'm not making much sense. This isn't a particularly good time for me. I'm worried that if my body is not absorbing what it needs from my diet, then will it absorb it from supplements? Thanks for your time.
