In fact, we¡¯re all doing so . . . right now. If we aren¡¯t able to understand these messages, we can ask our angels for assistance, as well as use some of the methods outlined in this book. When we ask our angels for guidance or for answers, we aren¡¯t bothering them. They want to help us with every area of our lives because they hope to bring peace to our planet one person at a time.If you think that you¡¯ll feel more peaceful if you receive financial assistance, enter into a great love relationship, or secure a better job, then the angels are helping you with a sacred mission indeed. There¡¯s no request that¡¯s too trivial or too monumental for the angels. You aren¡¯t pulling them off of a more important task when you ask for their assistance. After all, the number of angels available to help far exceeds the number of people making such requests. There are billions of angels who are ¡°unemployed¡± and bored who¡¯d love to help you create a more meaningful and fruitful life.Know that you deserve love, attention, and miraculous blessings from God and the angels. They love you unconditionally, no matter what mistakes you may have made in your life. You¡¯re just as special as anyone else who¡¯s ever lived. If it helps, remember that the Creator made us all equally wonderful. To put yourself down is actually to put down God. The ego tries to convince us that we don¡¯t warrant help or attention from Heaven¡ªthat we¡¯re somehow bad or unworthy. That¡¯s the ego¡¯s attempt to prevent us from remembering our true spiritual identity and power. Please don¡¯t listen to that voice, because it could delay you from working on your life purpose. And we all need the fruits of your mission on this planet.Allow yourself to be open to the messages from your angels. They won¡¯t tell you anything that you can¡¯t handle. They won¡¯t try to control your life, either. Their messages always help you feel safer and happier and make every aspect of your life more meaningful. You can call additional angels to your side (or to that of your loved ones) simply by holding the thought that you¡¯d like to be in contact with more of them. You can voice this request directly to God or to the angels. The result is the same, since the angels are extensions of the Supreme Being. They¡¯re literally God¡¯s thought-forms of love. Ask for as many as you¡¯d like for yourself or another. The angelic realm is filled with celestial beings specializing in every human condition. You can ask for angels to help you find a new home, locate a soul mate, or heal your body. There are angels who can aid you with parenting, with school, and with increased motivation to exercise. These Divine helpers want to assist you and give you messages, if only you¡¯ll let them. And the more you allow Heaven to help you, the more resources you¡¯ll have to give back to the world. When you develop the habit of getting your angels involved in every area of your life, you¡¯ll function like a member of a successful sports team. You aren¡¯t giving the angels complete responsibility for your life¡ªyou¡¯re simply passing the ball back and forth between your teammates in Heaven. When you do this continually, life becomes so much simpler and more peaceful. While suffering does foster spiritual growth, contentment creates even more. You learn through peace¡ªand more important, you can better teach your children and others when you¡¯re in a state of joyful relaxation. You don¡¯t need to suffer for the sake of growth! God certainly doesn¡¯t want you to endure pain, any more than you want your own children to do so. Remember, your angels love you, and they want to help you with anything that will bring you peace. Just ask them, and then follow the Divine guidance that they give to you in response to your questions. As you talk with and listen to your angels, you¡¯ll find everything in your life soaring heavenward. By tuning in to the messages from your angels, you can help create a peaceful world . . . one person at a time . . . beginning with you! HayHay House FounderA True Living Legend Recently dubbed "the closest thing to a living saint" by the Australian media, Louise L. Hay is also known as one of the founders of the self-help movement. Her first book, Heal Your Body, was published in 1976, long before it was fashionable to discuss the connection between the mind and body. Revised and expanded in 1988, this bestselling book introduced Louise's concepts to people in 33 different countries and has been translated into 25 languages throughout the world.Through Louise¡¯s healing techniques and positive philosophy, millions have learned how to create more of what they want in their lives, including more wellness in their bodies, minds, and spirits. Her own personal philosophy was forged from her tormented upbringing. Her childhood was unstable and impoverished, and her teen years were marked by abuse. Louise ran away from home and ended up in New York City, where she became a model and married a prosperous businessman. Although it appeared that her life had turned around, it was not until the marriage ended 14 years later that her healing really began.Louise started what would become her life's work in New York City in 1970. She attended meetings at the Church of Religious Science and began training in the ministerial program. She became a popular speaker at the church, and soon found herself counseling clients. This work quickly blossomed into a full-time career. After several years, Louise compiled a reference guide detailing the mental causes of physical ailments, and developed positive thought patterns for reversing illness and creating health. This compilation was the basis for Heal Your Body, also known affectionately as "the little blue book." She began traveling throughout the United States, lecturing and facilitating workshops on loving ourselves and healing our lives.Louise was able to put her philosophies into practice when she was diagnosed with cancer. She considered the alternatives to surgery and drugs and developed an intensive program of affirmations, visualization, nutritional cleansing, and psychotherapy. Within six months, she was completely healed of cancer. In 1980, Louise moved back to her native Southern California, and it was here that she began putting her workshop methods on paper. In 1984, her new book, You Can Heal Your Life, was published. In it, Louise explains how our beliefs and ideas about ourselves are often the cause of our emotional problems and physical maladies and how, by using certain tools, we can change our thinking and our lives for the better. You Can Heal Your Life reached the New York Times bestseller list and remained on it for 13 consecutive weeks. More than 35 million copies of You Can Heal Your Life have been sold throughout the world. In 1985, Louise began her famous support group, "The Hayride," with six men diagnosed with AIDS. By 1988, the group had grown to a weekly gathering of 800 people and had moved to an auditorium in West Hollywood. Once again, Louise had started a movement of love and support long before people began to wear red ribbons in their lapels. It was during this time that she wrote The AIDS Book: Creating a Positive Approach, based on her experiences with this powerful group.Louise now heads Hay House, a successful publishing company. What began as a small venture in the living room of her home has turned into a prosperous corporation that has sold more than ten million books and tapes since its inception. Hay House authors include many notables in the self-help movement, including Wayne Dyer, Joan Borysenko, and Doreen Virtue, among others. In addition, The Hay Foundation and the Louise L. Hay Charitable Fund are two nonprofit organizations established by Louise that support many diverse organizations, including those dealing with AIDS, battered women, and other challenged individuals in our society.Louise¡¯s healing message has been the subject of many newspapers and magazine articles. She has appeared on television around the world, and her monthly column, ¡°Dear Louise,¡± appears in more than 50 publications in the United States, Canada, Australia, Spain, and Argentina. At 81, Louise is proud to release her first-ever film on her life and work You Can Heal Your Life: The Movie. Studies of centenarians have revealed that it¡¯s one of the three most vital coping mechanisms that healthy individuals possess; therefore, it¡¯s crucial to living a long, happy life.I believe that the combination of my gene pool and the circumstances of my birth allowed me to have the awareness of the comedy and absurdity of life. See, I was a breech delivery, which means that I came out ¡°ass-ways.¡± It¡¯s given me a great appreciation of how asinine we can all be! My mother had a very hard labor; according to her, it went on for 40 days and 40 nights. She must have been on Noah¡¯s ark in a past life. I¡¯ve heard the story hundreds of times, so I know that she suffered at length in order to bring me to this early paradise. She also used her painful labor as an effective tool for inciting guilt when she wanted me to do something for her. Typically her comment would be, ¡°If it wasn¡¯t for me and all the pain I went through, you wouldn¡¯t be here!¡± On top of that, I was told that I almost died. My mother gave birth to me at home with a doctor and her best friend, phine, in attendance. As the physician feverishly worked on my mother, he finally pulled me out and placed me on the bureau but then announced that I had already turned blue and might not make it. phine had other plans and began madly pounding my back while alternately clearing my throat. The story goes that I didn¡¯t cry; instead, I smiled, closed my eyes, and went to sleep. I believe I had a near-death experience. I don¡¯t know about white lights and tunnels, but I do think that powerful moment stuck with me. You¡¯re too soon dead, so lighten up!I¡¯ve personally witnessed the importance of humor and aging. My 96-year-old mother amazes me with her funny remarks. She has difficulty hearing and seems to have trouble connecting all the dots, but she continually blurts out observations that crack me up¡ªand she¡¯s still zinging people with her laser-sharp sarcasm. In a recent visit, we had lunch with three other women who were in varying stages of dementia. Afterward as my mom, hunched over, pushed her walker down the hall, she turned to me and said, ¡°Some of those women are on their third coffins.¡± Although I¡¯m very much in favor of empathetic humor over sarcasm, I still relish the fact that my mom is capable of laughing at life.I¡¯ve conducted hundreds of seminars for cancer patients, survivors, and their family members; and I¡¯ve been awestruck by their incredible ability to laugh at what would make most of us shudder. Ironically, I¡¯ve found that many of the people I¡¯ve spoken to who are afflicted with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses have been amazingly invested in comedy. Called gallows humor, it supplies individuals with a coping mechanism and a way to deflect the stress they¡¯re experiencing. Remember the classic television series M*A*S*H? That was a perfect example of characters using this type of humor to overcome the horrors of war. The trials of aging remind me of that show. All of us will have to survive and somehow manage the traumas that are handed to us as we get older . . . and what better way to do it than with a sense of humor. When I had my hip replaced, I went into the operation using my playfulness to ease the fear of going under the knife. Because I had previously held a workshop at that hospital, the nurses who prepped me were totally prepared for my banter and were ready to participate. It was four days before Christmas, and they¡¯d gotten funny hats to wear in my honor. They were all shocked by how low my blood pressure was just before surgery . . . but given the humorous situation and my outlook, it made sense. There¡¯s scientific literature that supports the fact that when people laugh, ¡°feel good¡± chemicals rush forth with each giggle and help the body stay well. Now there¡¯s research that even shows that laughter can help prevent heart disease because it may actually expand capillaries.Life is going to hand you lemons¡ªthere¡¯s no question about that. But instead of making lemonade, as the clich¨¦ goes, you may be better off by just laughing about it.
