Guest guest
My ferritin went from 29 to 99 in 9 months. Doc likes it around 115. I took 50mg of Solgar Gentle Iron (2 caps) a day. It's Iron Bisglycinate doesn't irritate the stomach or cause constipation. Got it at Whole Foods, I'm sure it can be found other places. It's a little more expensive, but I felt like I was at death's door. I was in no mood for fooling around. I'm also post-menopausal which, in this case, may be a plus, not losing more iron every month. Carol > >> > 19 is pretty darn low. Guest guest
I tried to find Solgar Gentle Iron today actually. Went to The Vitamin Shoppe (where I usually buy my stuff since it's right next door to me practically) and they didn't have that brand. I didn't recognize anything on their shelf that I'd seen mentioned here as good, either. I'll have to try elsewhere. Whole Foods is a bit of a drive for me but maybe a place like Central Market carries it. Or Sprouts. Will have to get over that way soon. Is 50 mg a pretty standard dose for someone with low ferritin? My periods aren't super heavy anymore, thanks to Armour, but I do have a few days of some heaviness. Guest guest
I think if you go to the Solgar website they have a store locator. I don't really know what is considered a standard dose. I remember when I first started on it some people thought it was low. All I care about is that it's working. Carol > > My ferritin went from 29 to 99 in 9 months. Doc likes it around 115. Guest guest
The Solgar is not the only brand. What you are looking for is "chelated ferrous bisglycinate" also called "advanced ferrochel iron". Whole Foods has their own store brand, and it is cheap, as is Bluebonnett. For some reason, I have not had much luck finding iron products at Vitaminshoppe either online or in my local store. I Googled this link, however. So Vitaminshoppe does carry it. I would call the local store to make sure they have it in stock. http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp;jsessionid=HWSCQFKNFNVKQCQUC4YFAFQKCQL00UNE?id=SL-2160 Martha L Lovejoy wrote: No data found for my Houston ZIP code... rats.Marti> I think if you go to the Solgar website they have a store locator. >> I don't really know what is considered a standard dose. Guest guest
I just went to a search engine, put in Solgar Gentle Iron, and it presented 4,669 results. Where there's a will, there's a way, lol, lol. Re: Re: Do you feel better after decreasing thyroid me... No data found for my Houston ZIP code... rats. Guest guest
Of course, this would mean that you have to order it online. I think that most everything I get that's any good seems to be far away and at an online store. Including my thyroid hormone. Re: Re: Do you feel better after decreasing thyroid me... Guest guest
If you have a local Vitaminshoppe, they can order anything in the catalogue for you and have it within a week, sometimes within a few days. wrote: I just went to a search engine, put in Solgar Gentle Iron, and it presented 4,669 results. Guest guest
I almost asked them yesterday if they would order something in but the guy disappeared into the back and didn't come back out in the next few minutes (good thing I'm not a shoplifter!) and I got tired of waiting. I'll have my mom check Central Market since she goes there like 4 times a week. Might be able to get it faster that way. Thanks guys for all the tips and suggestions!Jul If you have a local Vitaminshoppe, they can order anything in the catalogue for you and have it within a week, sometimes within a few days. wrote: I just went to a search engine, put in Solgar Gentle Iron, and it presented 4,669 results.
