Yuma is nice right now; of course it's a bit crowded because of all the blippity snowbirds, but the weather has been really nice (although we are expecting 49 tonight). Being right in town is very convenient as I can walk almost anywhere I need to get, including all of the downtown "festivals" (they're having "Lettuce Days" Jan 20th and 21st - maybe they'll have free salad). I told you on the phone that I had found a hepatologist here, now it looks like there are about a half dozen of them. It really is looking good for me to get on treatment. I really want to stomp on this thing hard and fast.

Hi -

Dr G popped in for a little bit last night.

He talked about hoping to have an upcoming

announcement regarding viral genome studies in the

next month. I asked him if the direction they have

been going in has changed any and he said emphatically

said No, rather confirms what they have been trying to

say for 20 years. If that seems cryptic to some, I

think - cannot say for sure - it's one of the ways

they will finally be able to prove the presence of

chronic active viral infection in CFIDS and

" Autism/neuroimmune disorders " by a different manner

more accurately (I hope) than by titers. That's

the end of what he said, said it wasn't appropriate

for him to disclose any more at this time, but hopes

to very soon.

I'll speculate now lol!

As so many of us who've had high viral titers (and

some of us like my one child having negative titers

when that just shouldn't be) and have been told " It

doesn't mean anything how high the titers are " by most

docs, having a better way to document viral load has

been needed. If you want to read a bit about this, it

seems like there were some things written up on the

website for the HHV6 foundation (I read where Dr

Klimas referenced that group once at a patient seminar

someone wrote up notes from and posted on co-cure.org

I think) that explained some of the problems

identifying and testing for this virus (and surely

others).

(BTW *Please ... Forgive me for typing from vague

memory and for choosing not to verify what I'm typing

first and risking innaccurate info to you guys - if I

try to do that (verify), I'll get lost in the internet

and you'll never hear about it.

This area of study (if I'm remembering what I think

I've heard lol!!) should hopefully be a possible

mechanism to prove otherwise or differently regarding

the importance of chronic viral infection in

neuroimmune, where other markers have been useless (ie

high viral titers that are disregarded as unimportant

- as well as not consistent as a whole amongst the

groups). Seems I remember reading what someone typed

up from a conference including Dr Klimas (anyone know

where that was?) mentioning " viral fragments " being

present in higher numbers and some speculation as to

whether it even requires the entire virus present to

induce illness. That's a very vague and surely partly

innacurate description but maybe you get an idea.

Maybe this could also address why some of our kids

have negative titers to a virus " in hiding " as Dr G

has described some negatives to HHV6...

Well I shall shut up now because I'm just speculating

from fragments of memory as to what he's referencing

and what it will mean. Dr G sounding cryptic can set

off my imagination so don't take my rambling as his

statements please. I'm going to do a search on

mapping viral genomes and see what pops up.
