Guest guest
Gabri, Yes Jazmyn does have a feeding tube. We have been in the hospital so much for feeding issues, sleeping issues, and of course seizures...We are being seen by the epilepsy team at Boston Childrens hospital. Her neurologist is the one who decided that 50 mins was the length of time before we administer diastat. I know it seems awful but all of Jazmyn's cluster last at least 10 mins. And she gets about 5 of those a day. Should would always be drugged up. She always comes out of her clusters with out needing medical assistance. She cannot be given Diastat before 50 mins. That is coming straight from the neurologist. Sometimes she has clusters that last 30-40 mins. Its scary as hell but there is nothing we can do for her...Right now its a little easier because she hasnt got her teeth in yet. We'll see what happens when they start coming in. Krista (Jazmyn's preadoptive mom) > > > That is very dangerous. Please contact your neurologist about this. People often use Diastat in rectal gel form for kids who are in " status epilepticus " . This medication is absorbed quickly and will quiet down the brain. Really, anything over 5 minutes needs to be stopped. > Thea, in NY > > Long complex partial seizures > > I'm wondering if anybody else's child has long seizures that last up to 2 hours long? and if so what meds are they on? > >
