Hello, I've been sick with CFS since early 1981 and during these 26

years I've experienced all the classic symptoms in those ever

recurring cycles that the rest of you have endured.

However, I'm now experiencing one that I need to find out if anyone

else with CFS has encountered. In early March I began feeling a

tightness around/in my lungs that is very much like the tightness of

pleurisy, but without the fever and pain that accompanies pleurisy.

At first I thought it was respiratory as did my doctor, and was

treated with cortisone, inhaler, the usual upper respiratory/allergy

meds, but nothing changed. In fact the tightness increased, at times

it encompasses all of my lungs and then I have shortness of breath and

dizziness.

My doctor, who is terrific and knows a lot about CFS, sent me for all

sorts of test, pulmonary function, chest x-ray, ekg and all were in

'normal' ranges. He sent me to a cardiologist who didn't hear any

abnormalities and he suggested that it might be related to the

muscular problems of CFS.

Now I rejoiced greatly to hear a specialist speak of CFS as a 'real'

illness, but I am back to not knowing what this is.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It is always present

to some extent, and usually later in the day it becomes more

pronounced and some days it is very bad indeed and greatly limits what

I can do.

Thanks, glad I found the group, hopefully I can contribute to it as well.

Kathy
