Guest guest
Sorry I have missed some stuff ........ Yahoo seems to have messed up big time, my mail is starting to come in now but some of it is missing still....I got what seems to be the back end of a conversation between you and Ray ....PJ ....lol I have no idea what started it. And Monday and part of yesterday I had a really bad Migraine and so I couldn't be bothered to try and sort it all out....I still feel weird from the med's but that is usual anyway....so probably won't be around much today either, but I will be ok tomorrow...... Also I will be running around a lot for the next couple of week's as I fly back to Iowa on the 11th December and I still have to get the apartment sorted out over here in the UK and pack and take the Christmas presents around to family over here before I leave Hug's Jan xox THIS WONDROUS WORLDNot everyone has a good grip of science. But these children'sScientific musings at least show humor and creativity! To explain nuclear reactions, one child said, "When they broke openMolecules, the found they were only stuffed with atoms. But when theyBroke open atoms, they found them stuffed with explosions."Concerning astronomy, one child said, "Most books now say our sun is aStar. But it still knows how to change back into a sun in theDay-time." And another said, "Some people can tell what time it is byLooking at the sun. But I have never been able to make out theNumbers.""Vacuums are nothings," said a young physics student. "We only mentionThem to let them know we know they're there.""Evaporation gets blamed for a lot of things people forget to put theTop on," one child observed."Rain is often known as soft water, oppositely known as hail,"Reported a budding meteorologist. Another added, "Thunder is a richSource of loudness."Other children added these observations: "Isotherms and isobars areEven more important than their names sound." And, "It is so hot inSome places that the people there have to live in other places." And,"The wind is like the air, only pushier."These children have a way to go in their quest for more knowledge, butI applaud their efforts to learn more about the universe.Unfortunately, the reputation of science suffers in some circles. There are those who feel that a scientific mindset and a spiritualOutlook are contrary to one another. They believe that facts revealedBy science contradict spiritual truths. Not so! Bragg, a pioneer in the field of X-ray crystallography, madeThe point well. He was asked whether science and theology are opposed To one another. "Yes, but in the sense that my thumb and forefinger Are opposed to one another -- between science and theology, we Cannot grasp everything, but surely the combination reveals more of The cosmic mystery than either can touch alone." They need each other. If you love the universe -- if you love life, then learn about it.Learn about it from every place possible. Learn from science. LearnFrom the spiritual disciplines. Learn and keep an open mind, for thatIs the only way to truth. And the more you learn, the more you'llDiscover that there is nothing so enchanting or wondrous as this worldIn which we live!Steve Goodier Three things in life that, once gone, never come back 1. Dreams Three things that make a person 1. Commitment 2. Sincerity 3. Hard work When there is a negative situation that you cannot change, focus your thoughts and energy elsewhere. When there is a pain that will not go away, overwhelm it with an even greater amount of joy. It serves no useful purpose to get mired in despair over things you cannot control. It makes much more sense to do the very best, to achieve the very most, with those things you do control. You can choose where to focus your energy and attention. Focus on those areas where you can have a powerful positive impact. Yes, it can be easy to get caught up in the negativity of the moment. Yet it also can be surprisingly easy to shift your focus toward the positive, productive things you can do. You are never obligated to be miserable. If you really want to contribute to life, set your sights on the value you're able to create. Don't despair over the darkness that is beyond your control. Instead, shine your own light so brightly that the darkness is overwhelmed.
