Please don't stop getting excited ... anticipation is

supposed to be part of the " fun. " I'm sorry for you

that it didn't work out, but it sounds like you were

already figuring that out. There is something out

there that is better for you!

There will be something else that's a better fit for you.

I hope a better one comes along soon for you. The right job is the only

one worth having. And it is only right if you feel up to it. I loved

working and I miss it, but it was destroying my fragile health(at the

time, thanks to hypothyroidism). Rosecea was one of the results.

this afternoon and said that Time Warner had called them and decided to

end my assignment. They didn't give a reason, but I have a feeling I

know what it is. The hourly employees are given two 15-minute breaks

per day, one in the morning and another in the afternoon. A couple of

times I was one minute over, and maybe they figured I'd be some kind of

a discipline problem. Oh well. That's their prerogative, and I

understand the need for keeping discipline. That kind of rigidity is

just not for me. I don't know if I want to work for a company that

actually schedules my lunch time for me (in terms of when I start and

end it). I think it may also be because I asked my trainer about

overtime. She probably figured I would be unwilling to put in overtime

every week (which I got the distinct impression is expected of clerks,

and until my thyroid levels are optimized there's just no way I'm doing

that).

So I called the other agency to which I had emailed my resumé and left

a message with the lady who tried twice to reach me. This agency

actually has an office closer to my house than the other agency's

office, and -- as I mentioned -- they've tried twice to call me since I

emailed my resumé to them. So maybe they have something good for me,

closer to home and hopefully for better pay.

Oh well, I suppose it's for the best. I don't believe I would have

lasted long in that clerk job anyway. I've never done well in the heat

(or the cold).

*sigh* I guess it's back to the drawing board again. That'll

teach me to get all excited about a job so soon.

You're right , it probably wasn't meant to be. Maybe

someone up there is watching over you! I hope you'll find something

that's not as strict, rigid, and (sounds like) pretty stressful. 15

minute break? What is that? Gosh, I get up for 2 minutes twice a

day (and I get glared at because someone has to cover the phones for

me) to run to the bathroom and that's it, except for a one hour

lunch.

I can't do this job much longer, it's too stressful for my

condition, I know it. I have applied for a part-time job doing what

I love to do, but it won't start until the fall, that is, if I'm

lucky enough to get it -- and hopefully that'll be enough for us

financially -- please everyone, keep your fingers crossed!

I can't remember if you have Hashi's but with any thyroid condition,

we have to take care of ourselves as much as we can. I hope you'll

find something that will be less stress on you physically and

mentally!

Someone is definitely watching over me, I have no doubts about that. Actually I have congenital hypothyroidism, or thyroid agenesis (no thyroid gland since birth -- or maybe even before birth). Your job sounds a lot like the first assignment this agency sent me on after I signed up with them (I think I may be done with them after this -- I'm not sure the health insurance is worth the subpar assignments). It was like pulling teeth to get anyone to cover the phones for me (I was the front-desk receptionist -- one of many, it was a position with a very high turnover rate) even just to take a bathroom break. Besides, I don't know if this is a hypo thing or just a me thing, but I have a learning disability. It takes me a few seconds longer than most people to process information that I hear. I process visual information very quickly; and I learn very well kinesthetically; but I have what my mom calls "delayed audio response" (I don't know if she came up with that term herself or if it's a clinical term). She thinks it may have developed when I was a baby and before the doctor diagnosed me as hypothyroid. Maybe during those first 4 months something didn't develop that should have, if that makes any sense.Anyway, it makes receptionist work difficult if not impossible, because you have to think and respond very quickly on the phone. The kinds of jobs I've always done well were the ones in which I've mostly worked with information and not had too much contact with people other than my supervisor and co-workers in my own department. I don't know if I'll ever do well at jobs that require a lot of contact with people (especially the public). Hopefully getting my thyroid levels optimized will help that, but I don't know. The damage that not having a thyroid did to me during my first four months out of the womb may be irreversible. I guess I should consider myself blessed that I'm not mentally retarded. Maybe I should look into computer programming or something of that nature.Sorry to ramble on for so long. I hope that job where you get to do what you love is everything you hope it will be, ! ~Chelle >> You're right , it probably wasn't meant to be. Maybe > someone up there is watching over you! You have rosacea too, Carole? I have it, but it didn't occur to me for a second that it might be caused by hypothyroidism. I just thought it was hereditary (my granddad on my mom's side had it too).>> I hope a better one comes along soon for you. The right job is the only > one worth having. Well, it seems to be a pattern with me -- I get a job, get all excited about it, and then it ends. So I think I'll wait a little longer next time. Thank you for the encouragement -- and thanks to the rest of you who replied, too! ~Chelle>> Please don't stop getting excited ... anticipation is> supposed to be part of the "fun."
