Hello!

Well, Dad had his cataract done yesterday. Fortunately he doesn't

have any tremors to deal with, that must complicate things a lot when

surgery is being done on your eye.

He seemed to do pretty well. Shortly after they got home I was

talking to him and his wife. He was a bit confused, and extremely

crabby at first, kept on moaning every few minutes about how much it

hurt. He's always been that way though, never been one to be stoic

about pain, he's always needed to be the center of attention, and his

wife has always played into that. But I did manage to make him laugh,

so that helped a bit I think. He had taken some tylenol, and when I

called back that afternoon he was feeling much better. I think that

his sympathetic dog who kept on licking him helped too. :)

So it doesn't seem to have worsened his mental state anyhow. And

hopefully he'll be able to see well enough to read again.

On another note, he seems to be doing quite well on the Seroquel.

He's in a pretty good mood most of the time, the confusing moments

aren't as frequent or as long. He's only been on it for five or six

weeks, and I'm not sure if the drug is responsible or if he's just

going through a good period. But I'm not inclined to tempt fate by

asknig why, just thanking God that it is so! :)

Hope all is well with you...

Don't feel awful! There are far worse things in our lives to feel

awful about, so don't spoil a perfectly good day because of me! I'M

certainly not mad!

As it happens, he's doing ok. Was a bit confused in the hours

following the surgery, but has bounced back and is doing pretty well.

Thanks for your concern.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Just enjoy the good period - be it

Seroquel induced or heavenly induced - for what it is.

I hope it lasts and lasts and that your time with your father is

memorable.

Thanks for sharing the good news. Glad the cataract surgery didn't

alter his cognitive function!!

Have a great weekend,

Abby
