Thanks for the info.

I do want to avoid soy. I had avoided it prior to being diagnosed with hypothyroidism due to how it interacts with other hormones. I was just stating that I am surprised how many products that soy was in when I read the ingredient list. I thought I had been doing a good job avoiding it but I need to be even more diligent by reading labels.

I like the way some companies have in bold print after the list of ingredients "Contains: dairy, soy, etc".

KimSoy locks onto other hormone receptors other than thyroid. Wouldn't it be better to have the realdeal hormone there and not something that should not be there like soy? NO question is a stupid question around here, , ask away. If you're

feeling great while taking your thyroid med AND consuming soy in all this

time, then maybe you can tolerate it, but I wouldn't say yea. Reason is

that it is NOT directly in the digestive tract where soy does it's dirty

work, rather, at the cellular level. Soy does things at a chemical reaction

cellular level that " fools " the body, to make this short, thereby denying

cellular access of thyroid hormone. This is the only way I know to put it

at this point. So, taking the soy way apart from thyroid hormone doesn't

even work, if the hormone is going to be blocked, since this reaction

doesn't take place in the stomach or intestines. Soy is a great imitator.

I am having trouble finding a multi-vitamin that does

not contain soy, corn, yeast, fish, gluten, etc... any

ideas? I called Bluebonnet, and low and behold, they

use a LOT of soy.

Another label to read!! I have not checked my supplements. My husband is allergic to dairy (not intolerant) he gets welts/hives.

My girlfriend who has celiac said that you cannot assume that products that your repeatedly by have the same ingredients. She said she has bought a product which was fine. Then later bought it and the ingredients have changed.

I was thinking about it. I generally do not have a problem with soy since we don't use much processed or packaged products at home. It has been since I have been trying to eat breakfast more regularly and good a good serving of protein in with it. I love my carbs and generally don't get enough protein.

I get tired of eggs. Plus I'm really not a morning person so I was looking for something easy. I thought the protein drink I had was only whey protein. It turns out on further review that is is whey AND soy protein. That lead me to the other labels in the pantry.

So I guess it's eggs or cold cereal (Uncle Sam's) or oatmeal and milk with some fruit for breakfast.

Ruth, have you checked out Twinlab brand? I take the Daily One or the Allergy Multi...I think both are free of all of those things.

I just ordered the following multivitamins. They are

supposed to be especially good for energy because they

have all the green superfoods in addition to the

vitamins and minerals. I haven't recieved them yet,

but I'm looking forward to. The label says " Contains

soy derivative, but does not contain phytoestrogens or

soy proteins " . I hadn't thought to look for this

before I ordered, but now I'm wondering. Does anyone

know if this makes a difference?

Bless you... The Daily one must have soy, because it

didn't say it didn't. this is awesome... I have

searched and searched... THANK YOU!!! The allergy

multi says:

Does Not Contain:

Tablet binders, coatings, colorings, fish, fish oils,

iodine, wheat, yeast, barley, rice, lactose (milk

sugar), milk, egg, citrus or lemon bioflavonoids

(including hesperidin), nightshade vegetables,

Hi Kim,

One of our members was having a lean hamburger patty for breakfast

every morning. Sometimes I get the thin pork cutlets and fry them

up. Other times I eat lean chicken or turkey (sometimes deli, which

is real easy) with sliced tomatoes, cottage cheese, cheese, fruit,

and/or V-8 juice. There are other things you can have, they just

aren't " common " breakfast ideas. I wasn't into the eggs thing at

first, but lately I've been craving bacon and eggs, fried, nearly

every day. Strange ...

I too have to avoid soy products. After I had an allergy testing

done several years ago, I tried my best to find products that did

not contain soy or any derivative of it. Boy, I have had a hard

time. I take organic liquid vitamins by Gillham (had problems

digesting whole pills). It contains the essential vitamins,

minerals, antioxidants and amino acid complexes in base of organic

noni juice concentrate and organic whole leaf aloe vera juice. It

not bad tasting either.

I get a lot of supps that are Thorne brand. They are very high

quality, and you can buy them at illnessIsOptional.com. VRP is another

good hypoallergenic brand - vrp.com.
