Guest guest
>Pardon can only be found in your own heart and mind. You will never get it from your parents. I find it interesting that your political views are enmeshed with your childhood experiences. Did you move to France because of the death penalty laws here in the US? Tammy As I pursue the feelings that Zola's " La BĂȘte Humaine " raised in me, > I find that I am a fugitive from the death penalty. My father > condemned me to death when I was born, for threatening his position > on the throne. My mother kept me on probation for 4 years, and then > upheld my death penalty in her court of appeals. > > Ever since then I have been a fugitive. All my life I have sought > pardon but have not found it. This is at the root of my emotional > opposition to the death penalty and of my pacifism. The biggest thing was the adventure, wanting to see Europe and really get to know it. Also, I experienced so much dishonesty in business in the USA that I couldn't stand working there any more. It is better here, not because of a higher moral standard, but simply because a longer planning horizon allows them to consider the consequences of their actions. - Dan
Guest guest
> WHAT! Dishonesty in business in the US?!?!?! NOOOOOOO!!! (dripping with sarcasm) That's why we started our own business, because my husband has a very strong work ethic - a rare commodity - and he got tired of being screwed by corporate america. The company I work for (to get health insurance) could care less about the people who work there, they just care about the product (fire trucks). They just don't get the concept that with no GOOD people, there can be no product. The whole place is run by a bunch of idiots. I don't care, I'm just there because I need the insurance. I get paid the same no matter what I do and I ignore the idiots. Heath insurance for 3 people costs about $800 a month if you can believe that! I guess we're a little off topic here, but I was just curious about why you lived in France. << Did you move to France because of the death penalty laws here in > the US? >> > > That played a very small part.
