Guest guest
Lynn, I can't help you with most of this, over my head. I suppose hair loss CAN be due to high testosterone, but I've lost plenty and my testosterone has never been high. You're not turning into a man...think 'temporary imbalance'...LOL! Guest guest
ha ha ha I'm thinking----temporary imbalance, temporary imbalance! haha Thanks, for the encouraging words! I am sure my husband will be happy that I am not becoming a man......Lynn > > > Lynn, > > I can't help you with most of this, over my head. Guest guest
No barroom brawls! ha ha I complained to her that my hair was falling out. That is the one test that she actually prescribed something for, and it's within range? Guess she likes to see testosterone below 35. My ferritin is very, very low. I have been taking iron, but it still has dropped from 18 to 14,(range 10-?) last checked in Feb. I'm having that one checked again. What's up with an elevated ACTH Plasma, any thing I should be concerned about? Thanks, Lynn --
Guest guest
Lynn, What is it she's prescribing? What kind of drug is it? How does it lower testosterone? What I'm thinking is, what else could it mess up? My Ferritin was 29 a year ago. I started taking 2 25mg Solgar Gentle Iron in early Nov. '06, Ferritin was 64 then. It came up to 99 this last March. It's very easy on the stomach and does not cause constipation. I get it at Whole Foods. I think Jan knows of some other brands that are less expensive, but the dose was different, they were something like 18mg. Doc specifically said 50mg a day. Getting Ferritin and B12 up are both really important to feeling better. Guest guest
Testosterone, Total 43 range 20-76 Why she likes less than 35 is beyond me.... Yes, could be the ferritin. Guest guest
As Jan said is't called Aldactine. I told the Dr I didn't like take medication, especially without reading up on it first. It is a diuretic, but somehow the side effects lower the testosterone. I am trying to find a link between the glucose, testosterone, and ACTH plasma. I found some stuff, but can't really desifer it. Wish I was a Dr! NOT. I have an iron pill that has Iron (from ferrous furnrate) 25mg. I will start to take 2 a day, and see if this helps. Does that type of iron sound like the correct one? Guest guest
Well, if yours is high at 43 she'd be havin' a cow over mine. It was .54 in March, down from .65 the previous Oct. Apparently not an issue for The Doc, unless I start bitin' peoples heads off. I believe it's called uncontrolable aggression or something like that. Guest guest
Better stay out of the bars, just in case! ha ha Lynn > called uncontrolable aggression or something like that. > > Carol > >
Guest guest
I guess with a diuretic I might be concerned about upsetting fluid balances, maybe sodium. Since adrenals need salt and I don't need my adrenals messed up any further. Wish I could help with the other stuff, but that's way out of my area. I think there are several different kinds of Iron that are considered to be easily absorbable and 'gentle'. Mine's Iron Bisglycinate. It also says no sugar, salt and starch free, suitable for vegetarians, which I'm not. I'm a Meatatarian. :-) I think I did a Google search on Iron a while back and there's a lot out there about what kinds are good. Guest guest
I am not going to take that medication. I want to fist be retested. Never know, they could have messed up at the lab. Plus, I really don't have any of the issues, other than losing hair. So, I am not worried at all about the testosterone. Besides, I NEED all the help I can get to help my libido. Jan, what about the glucose thing? I know you have some knowledge about diabetes. Should I be concerned about this? Lynn
Guest guest
I think that's a smart decision. It's not really high. I think hair loss can be caused by lots of other things and I wouldn't want to mess with any possible libido either. Get your Ferritin up and see if that helps.
