Hi Abby-

Thank you so much for the prayers and hug. Mom's head looks pretty nasty. It

starts above her eyebrow with stitches and goes up in her head but they put

staples in her head because it was so bad. She is such a trouper though. She's

not complaining much. Says it looks worse than it hurts and not to worry. Yeah

right, not worry. She was trying to get up again yesterday on her own. She tells

us she's sorry and doesn't know why she does it. I told her it's not her fault,

it's the disease's fault. She was in good spirits last night but on tuesday they

couldn't wake her up. She would smile a little bit and hum a little bit but

wouldn't open her eyes and wanted to sleep. Was a little scarey but wed. she

seemed good but wanted to get up alot. I really hate this rollercoaster!

Prayers and hugs back to you-

Sharon

P.S Hope your dad and the rest of your family are doing well! oh, and of

course i hope you are doing well too :)

Sharon:

I am so sorry that your mom fell again and sustained an injury. I

know my dad also fell and split open his forehead. It was awful. To

this day he has a scar but everytime I look at it I thank God he

didn't break a hip or bang himself even worse. It's amazing the

things we begin to feel grateful for once LBD hits our life huh?

I know what you mean about there being no reason in the world that

can justify why this happens to anyone. As I've said time and time

again, this illness should come to only the most heinous horrible

felons and child molesters if the world were a just one.

Unfortunately, the world is far from just so that means most of us

have to just hang on as this illness devours our loved ones. So

sad...

Sharon, please know that I'm sending you tonnes of positive thought

vibes and that your mom is in my prayers. Along with this comes a

great big cyber hug for you too.

Abby

Thanks Sharon:

We're all doing fine. We've been seriously thinking of taking my dad

home but my mom's doctor's appointment this week put a stop to that

really fast. Her blood pressure is through the roof and the doctor

fears that she is a stroke waiting to happen. I shudder to think

what would happen if my dad were home and my mom would be tending to

him. Even with a caregiver, my dad would still want my mom to do

most of the work. It's what he's used to I suppose and he's more

able to show his vulnerabilities to her than he is to others.

I'm glad your mom was up and about on Wednesday and hope that

tomorrow and the weekend are even better for her.

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm sending them right back. Sometimes

our good wishes for one another are the only things that sustain us

through the bleakness.

Happy Friday,

Abby

Sharon:

I'm going to try to look up Bread's song the next time I'm in a CD

place. I don't know the song but I've heard of the group. Even

though it's a tearjerker, a good cry does me good sometime. Who

needs to keep a stiff upper lip all the time? Not me, that's for

sure. I listen to this Luther VanDross song entitled, " Dance with my

Father again " often. It came out last year. Normally, I'm not a

huge VanDross fan but this song is poignant because when it was

playing on the radio last year, I knew something was wrong with my

dad because he was so unsteady on his feet. At the time, we thought

he had the possibility of it being Parkinsons and, while my dad and I

weren't big dancers, I wondered if I'd ever be able to see my dad

move without it being painful for him and torturous for us to watch

him. I honestly believed Parkinson's was a horrible diagnosis.

Little did I know what he ended up getting d/x with (LBD) is so much

worse in every way...

My mom's blood pressure woes date back years and years. She's

actually quite healthy but she's had several (possibly 8 or more)

minor strokes and we're living like many Californians do - waiting

for the big one which the doctor tells us is a very probable outcome

for my mom. I'm actually surprised her blood pressure hasn't sky

rocketed before now. It was horrible while my dad was at home. It

doesn't surprise me that it's bad now because she's with him from 8

am to 5 pm each and every day. While she's there, she does

everything for him and I mean everything. She wants to and feels

it's her duty and he wants her to since he feels more comfortable

having her help him rather than a nh aide or nurse. The doctor

called me and told me that my mom cannot continue to keep up this

pace. She's with him all day and then goes home and has to mow the

lawn and till the soil of her garden. She says she loves being able

to give to my father and that she's come to realize why gardening was

my father's passion but she seems resistant to realizing her body

cannot keep this up for much longer. I keep telling her we don't

need her to become ill too and that if she did, my dad would be left

without anyone at all to watch him on a day to day basis since I

cannot afford to not work and my sister is ultra involved with her

job but to no avail. She thinks she'll be fine and believes the

doctor is just overly cautious.

Sharon, it's been a real struggle as well you know. I often feel LBD

has come into my life to remind me of how easy and liberated I was

before. I really led a charmed life. My friends used to marvel at

how great my parents looked. They travelled several times a year and

were very active in their community. During the summer, while I was

off from school, they would pick up and go on day trips. They were

free to do as they pleased which is as it should be after having

worked madly their whole lives. My parents pretty much raised my

kids while my husband and I went to work and they were always begging

us to go out so they could have sleepovers with them. Financially,

my parents were set after having worked hard (now my dad's pension

isn't enough to cover the cost of his private room at his nh). Like

so many others, I'm bitter as hell about LBD and what it's taken from

my parents and me.

Sorry to rant (again). Normally, I think I'm good but LBD does bring

out the worst in most of us so I know you " get " what I'm saying.

Hope your Friday is a good one,

Abby
