Guest guest
Current Dr, Ramon Garza in San . Changing to Dr. Akright as soon as I can get an appt. I won't have anything done until I see her. DebbieJan wrote: Who is your endo? The hospital said they would pick up all the previous test results before the procedure was done so they would have them. Nodules grow withIN the thyroid, goiter is simply an enlarged thyroid itself. FNA can't always determine if a person has cancer, if it is negative, but often thyroid cells can be found with this method, if it's there. Has he tried this, or is he going completely by the SIZE of one or two nodules? Re: New to the group Definitely changing dr. I've lost all faith in this guy. I have no symptoms from these nodules, no pain, difficulty breathing or swallowing, nothing. I even told him, if they are soooo large, wouldn't they bother me. He said not nessecarlity and that he did not think that they were cancer. I'm so frustrated, can't wait to get my records and see a new dr. debbie The fish are biting.Get more visitors on your site using Yahoo! Search Marketing. The fish are biting. Guest guest
Regarding the lab work, within normal limits and optimal are two different things. Some people need to be at the top of the Free T3 & Free T4 levels or even slightly over to feel better. I'm glad that you are changing doctors. Let us all know how it goes. I definitely would not go to surgery until you are at peace with the situation. For me that would be having all of the options explained to me, like further observation, etc. If the MD did not want to observe longer I would want a good explanation. Finding a surgeon that I was comfortable with would also be critical. I'm sure others will share that have more knowledge then I do. My name is Debbie Webb and I am new to the group.I have hypothyroidism. I have been seeing an endocrinologist for over 2 years. Every 6 months, blood work and ultrasound. He started me on 10 mg synthroid and now I'm up to 137mg. When I 've gone in for my appt. he has never mentioned anything about my goiters growing. At my last visit in December, now he wants to remove my throid completely. When I asked him why all of sudden it needs to be removed, he said because they have been growing all this time and now are over 2cm. Now, since I've NEVER had surgery of any kind, this scared me half to death. I've totally lost faith in this dr. And to tell the truth, I think I have more symptoms now than before all this started. In reading some of the other posting, I realize that a lot of my other problems could all be related to my throid. I feel like this group could really help point me in the right direction. Guest guest
Debbie, I wouldn't do an FNA at a place because it is convenient. I'd ask the doctor why he wants to go with the other place. Is it because they have done many of these procedures? Experience is important in a procedure like this. Kate At 05:04 PM 1/27/2007, you wrote: >I think he is only going by the size. Guest guest
Kate, you have a very good point. There is a matter of experience and skill to consider. I have never had an fna, but I understand that they can be anywhere from mildly uncomfortable to much worse than that.Kate Guynn wrote: Debbie,I wouldn't do an FNA at a place because it is convenient.
