Guest guest
Is that Dr. Carl McKenney in Rockwall? Re: ????- Symptoms..???? Dr. McKenney, is an older Doc. Whenever he heard I wanted Armour he simply said he was around whenever all there was, was Armour thyroid and that he didn't have a problem at all in giving it out. He started me on 1.5 grains or 90 mg. I was taking .125 of Synthroid. I just seen him for the first time on Tuesday the 20th of June. He wants to see me again in six weeks. On Thursday the 15th prior to seeing Dr McKenney I had an appointment to see the nurse practitioner in order for her to get my blood and run some tests. She ran my TSH, total cholesterol, triglycerides HDL, LDL and she ran an arthoritis panel. Whenever I asked her if she was going to run my Free T3 and my Free T4 she said he'd have to ask for it. When finally meeting him on Tuesday, he said he had some other hypo patients and was giving them Armour too. He also had a patient he mentioned that wanted to stay on the synthroid but wanted just T3 and he said he prescribed that for her too. He was very flex and did listen. He said in six weeks whenever I come they were going to run a Free T3 and Free T4 and a TSH. I could tell by the way he was acting towards me.. that he understood my pain. Oh and I'd say he's probably in his 60's and is probably himself over 300 lbs. He also mentioned that the arthoritis medication he gave me is the same medicine he takes everyday.Connie> Sorry I've been in the zone the last couple of days. Guest guest
No, I don't. I just did a search on the name to see who everyone was talking about. What's interesting is that I see he breeds champion Brahman cattle and I always thought that animals were often getting better medical treatment than us humans, so you may have really lucked out with this one lol. Guest guest
Right, Dr. Gonino is closest to me and also on my provider list (as it reads today), so I'll definitely call his office first. I'm waiting until Friday when my new insurance kicks in. While we're on the subject, it sounds like he'll know which tests to run, but just in case is there anything that I should ask for besides the TSH, free T3 and free T4? I'm also going to have him test my adrenals because I really sense that's where a lot of my real problems are. I've thought that for about 4 years but I could never get a doc to test them. And as far as menopause goes do I just need estrogen and progesterone or are there better/other tests to ask for? Thanks in advance... Judy Re: Re: ????- Symptoms..???? Call the doc's office and ask. Guest guest
LOL.. Yeah.. he's definitely into his cattle.. His RN had given me the 411 on his ranching history.. Sooo... whenever he came in to see me.. I mentioned I had heard about his cattle and that my husband and I were about to get some mini Herefords. Boy did his eyes light up.. = ) I figure why not be interested in what he's interested in.. as I'm seriously hoping that finally I've found a Doc that will go the extra mile.. to help me resolve my health issues.. I dunno really.. but I figured it can't hurt.. = ) Anyways, after that brief chit chat.. he said... I have no problem giving you Armour thyroid.. and that he was around whenever all there was .. was Armour. And then he gave me some other patient examples.. so I was happy.. Truly.. I am so excited to be on Armour and to be taking an active role in getting better instead of always feeling like I'm a victim of hashi's. Already and it's not even been a whole week that I've been on the name brand Armour Thyroid .. and my bowels.. are like functioning properly for the first time in like forever! And I keep checking myself .. becuz I'd even go so far as to say.. I feel like I have more energy.. I don't know if it's cuz I'm eliminating better or what.. but I have new found energy. I'll keep you posted!! I see him again in about five weeks now. Guest guest
LOL.. Yeah.. he's definitely into his cattle.. Guest guest
Antithyroid peroxidase antibodies, thyroglobulin antibodies, estradiol, estrone and/or total estrogen, progesterone, DHEA-s, testosterone, am cortisol, serum ferritin, maybe lipids. Are you going to see just for thyroid and hormones, or are you considering him as a possible primary care doc? Judy P wrote: Right, Dr. Provider lists are not kept up to date. Dr. Gonino is probably also not too far away. Judy P wrote: No, I don't. I just did a search on the name to see who everyone was talking about. What's interesting is that I see he breeds champion Brahman cattle and I always thought that animals were often getting better medical treatment than us humans, so you may have really lucked out with this one lol. He's not too far from me, but not on my provider list... Judy Want to be your own boss? Learn how on Yahoo! Small Business.
Guest guest
I think I am considering him as a primary care doc if he does all the regular stuff too. He's only 14 miles, so that's not bad and I really didn't like the doc I had here in Texas last year. Dr. Gonino is certified as a Family Physician and so if he says he can take care of all of the normal stuff too, then that will be great. I'll have to find all of that out when I get there. The website was a bit confusing in that regard, but it doesn't mention thyroid labs/treatments either and so I guess it's not a comprehensive list. Is anyone using him as a pcp?
