I always recommend taking your first dose of a new med on a weekday morning when your doctor's office is open. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are best. I would also take it with food until you see how you react to it. In your other post, you ask about the smell of Armour. The smell and color can vary from time to time and should not be used as a measure of freshness. wild_beagle wrote: Ok, the crazy doctor called last night, she said she would prescribe armour,

going to pick it up soon. But can I go ahead and start taking it when I get it? It will be about noon before I get it. I believe she said we would start at 1/2 grain. But now that I have it, I am not sure what to do. Anything I should be watching out for when I take it?Thanks guys, I am hoping it will help with the chest pain and the panic attacks.

thanks Jan, I just saw so many posts about how it smelled, and mine didn't. Sorry to be a pain. I did go ahead and take the first dose, about noon, and so far, no huge reaction and for me, that's great because I am one of those that can say 30 minutes later "oh not working" As for the doctors office being open, well they have boundary issues with me...so I am not sure it would make a difference.Jan wrote: I always recommend taking your first dose of a new med on a weekday morning when your doctor's office is open. Casey, keep in mind about something being haywire with your cortisol, as you

go to take the Armour and as you continue to raise it (hopefully). I would

still pressure this doctor to treat with the cortisol, instead of the

pregnenolone. Did you ever get that resolved or was it even mentioned in

your conversation with her?

Getting Armour, need help!

No, she never mentioned it. She acted like she never wanted me to step foot in her office again, she prescribed Armour Thyroid, 30 mg She wanted me to cleanse, and again, I could never buy anything as good as in her office....only available to doctors.....I didn't get a chance to tell her I wasn't taking the Pregnenolone, my friend brought over some adrenal fatigue she is using from her health food store....so far, I am not having any adverse effects. wrote: Casey, keep in mind about something being haywire with your cortisol, as you go to take the Armour and as you continue to raise it (hopefully). Chest pain? Have you discussed this with your doctor?

Women tend to dismiss many symptoms that could be heart trouble. I

suggest you will get this looked at immediately.

I had panic attacks over several years but no chest pains.

I'm a few days behind on posts. Someone might have already mentioned this but 30 mg is a pretty low starting dose. Maybe you have circumstances that prevent your from being started at a higher dose.

It is too bad that she will not address your Cortisol issue. I have taken Isocort (over the counter adrenal support) in a pinch when I have run out of my compounded hydrocortisone. The Isocort does not help me near as much. I've been ordering two refills at a time now so I don't run out in between refills again.

Well I have an appt with a new endo on Monday, I know endo ewww! but I when I called the office they said he treated by symptoms, uses Armour, isn't a TSH worshipper (my words not theirs), he is also listed on the Cushings board as a good guy, although not how I found him. Anyway, since I have horrible reactions to most all drugs, including over the counter, starting me on 30mg was probably a good thing. Although she never did actually check my thyroid, and I think she just wanted to get rid of me, so she prescribed Armour, but I think if I am going to be on something I need someone who I can address issues with. So that's why I am going to see this new guy. Wish me luck. I never got a chance to tell her I wasn't taking the pregnenolone and she didn't ask....so I think Jan's doctor-ectomy was a good idea.
