Guest guest
Hey and Group! It's been a quite a while since I posted, but I'll give you my experience with Dr. M. I go back to see him next week, and I suspect after this visit I might be looking else where too. I was supposed to go back in Sept. (woops) The magic words are "2 grains of Armour." He cut my dose from 3 grains to 2 because I made the mistake of telling him on my prior blood draw, (done my another Doc) that my TSH was 0.00 and my Free T3 was out of range high, but that I felt wonderful and no hyper symptoms. He ignored the fact I felt wonderful and cut my dose anyway, without even waiting to get the results from the lab. I forget what my TSH was per the labs he did, but it was up from the 0.00. (I could have told him that I could tell by the way I felt.) So anyway.. when he did the "call back" thing he does, because my TSH wasn't high enough to suit him, he cut my dose even further down to 1 1/2 grains, and boy can I tell it. I'm not in near the sad condition I was before, but I don't feel good, like I did on 3 grains. He also would not run my Frees. When I go on the tenth, I will ask the nurse if he intends to run my Frees. If not I'm leaving without seeing him. I'm DONE paying doctors that won't run the tests I ask for. My niece sees him also. He started her on 15mg..... then "allowed" her to take 30mg... grrrrrrr.... So, if you feel good on 2 grains, and your TSH always suits DR. M you're not going to have any trouble. Good luck, when you feel like crap, need more meds, but your TSH doesn't suit him..... Just for grins would you please ask these other patients what dose they're on, what their TSH numbers are, and if any of them have EVER had him run their FREEs? Maybe all of us together can educate the man. I let you guys know what happens..... Becky Interesting view point about Dr. Mabray. The information I got from other patients of his is counter to what you are describing. All were prescribed armour. He said nothing negative to me about my being on 2 grains of armour. He asked if it was working for me and my history of dosages of armour in the past. The only thing I have heard, but not verified, is that he will not prescribe over 2 grains of armour. That may not work for some patients. I guess I will see in due time. I'm not here to defend Dr. Mabray before I have maintained a relationship with him, but I at this point I am extremely happy with him. My experience mirrors those other patients that recommended him to me, and I am delighted to have an option in my proximity.
