Pat-

" I am almost 64 yrs also, will be July 2nd. "

This intrigued me...I will be 41 July 2nd. What a wonderful similarity. This

made me smile from the inside out.

Still grinning here in Iowa-

Sandie

Hi Pat-

Yes, I will be honored to celebrate 'cyber style' our birthdays.

Hugs-

Sandie

Sandie, how about that, the same birth date. I only wish I was 41 again. That

makes us about 13 years apart. Well , we can celebrate over the web our

birthdays, LOL, Pat

Pat:

I've learned this switching of worlds is quite common once someone

enters a nh. I think my dad realized - even if it was temporarily -

that he no longer can live in the world that he used to before this

disease hit him. On Sunday he was mourning his old life and I got

right in there with him mourning the loss of it as well.

I think my dad may have an UTI. I've told the staff at the nh to get

that checked out. He just seems to be going to the washroom far too

often. I know that in the summer after his surgery he did have a UTI

so I want to be sure he's been checked for this.

I know how much it hurts to have them find the nh relaxing or more

comfortable than home. It's like they too are separating from us

while they're still with us..

Sending you lots of strength and perserverance,

Abby

Hi Pat Remember how I told you I havnt been loosing weight now 1month1week

this been soo fustrated i weighed myself today and have gained 10Lbs geez . I

fluctuated from gaining 5 then loosing those 5 Now Im dealing with 10Lbs :(

I dont know what to do Im thinking this surgery maybe doesnt work for all of

us.Im not able to yet fully take the required protien but find myself eating

regular meals with what ever protien it may contain.Im not an exercise

fanatic here still feeling heavy and not able to find motivation to workout. Can

you

explain what the food guidelines are what are the rules? i remembered you

emailed me about having to gain 15Lbs right after surgery Im 2months out.Im a

RNY revision see at that my body was limited to eating so much amount at a

serving so wasnt eating quite a bit like I can now with DS.Im thinking now tht

Im eating more as a portion perhaps this why Im not loosing weight cause my

body wasnt used to eating this much at a sitting.I dont know Im scared and

confused my feelings are dang what if I dont even loose weight and here I was

cut

open again.

What do you mean by this when yu wrote...

but then it started slowley going down.I use to

get my weight lost started again by eat fat, then here would come

the oil slicks, but I would start loosing again...

Im 2month post-op and needing advice Ive attended the DS group support over

in Paso Robles 1Hr half drive and didnt get much out of it everybody was

talkative all at once and all in there little groups.I kinda felt discluded I

dont care for attending that group again. There is a group support held here in

my town I used to attend when I first became RNY there was only one DS patient

I remembered her soooo long time ago tho.Maybe I oughtta start going to that

atleast and finding out if any are DS.Sorry if Im pouring all this onto you

I just need advice here and will be so appreciated.

Love and Smile,

~Gabby~

Gabby

In your statement you said you can't " yet " eat the required

protein...but can eat regular meals and you can eat larger meals than

you did with the RNY.

Honey...that's a huge part of your problem. You 'have to' EAT PROTEIN

FIRST. Fill Up on PROTEIN. Period. Bottom line. PROTEIN FIRST.

Rules:

PROTEIN First (if your not getting in your protein you don't need to

go further in your diet plan)

" If " there's still stomach room,

Veggies Next.

Fruit and Whole grain Carbs in VERY, VERY Tiny amounts.

DO NOT DRINK CALORIES. This includes Juices.

Avoid Sugar and simple Carbs like a fat retaining plague (because it

is a fat retaining--regaining plague!).

Drink 40-64 oz. of sugar free fluids.

Eat 3 protein based meals a day. If hungry between meals...snack on

PROTEIN, like a handful of walnuts, or a piece of cheese. My

favorite between meal snack in 1st year post-op, Sauteed Spinach with

an egg scrambled in it...yum. Favorite midnight snack...cottage

cheese. (protein doesn't have to mean...MEAT)

Review your Post0p dietary guide provide by Dr. K. You can find the

ONLINE version at the following link.

http://www.dssurgery.com/documentview.php?docID=8

I really feel you may need to schedule some time with Dee to go over

your diet. You need to nip the bad choices in the bud now...while

your weightloss window is at a premium. You need to understand What

the bad choices are. Plus...the office needs to be aware of any

eating abnormalities you may have...like excessive volume at an early

stage.

The fact that you are a revision adds to some of the difficultly in

your body losing weight. Therefore you MUST be extra diligent in

making good choices and staying in touch with the office for guidance.

It's frustrating and darn Scary when the weight isn't coming off.

It's HORRIFING when the scales bounce up...I feel for you! Your body

may not allow you as much " cheating " in your diet as my body

allowed...so stay diligent...stay on course...I want the greatest

success possible for you. It's great you are reaching out for

guidance.

Hugs

Jo
