Guest guest
Kath, We thought of increasing Dad's dosage of Sinemet a couple of times..when he was experiencing the increased shaking. His neuro insisted that we keep it to his regular dose due to increased hallucinations. The shaking (didn't have so much stiffness) was bothering us...but he really did not feel it, nor was it too much of a concern for him. We stayed the course and the shaking diminshed in a couple of days. His sleep cycle seemed to affect his shakiness. As we know...everyone has a different reaction to the meds. Just my experience. Lynn > Mom's shaking has been bothering her a great deal lately and I was wondering about tweaking the dose. When we first put her on it she started with one in the morning and then one in the morning and dinner and then one in the morning lunch and dinner. She started hallucinating much more and so we decreased it to a half three times a day. Now, she is having trouble getting up from a chair (stiffness) and the shaking has increased. I was thinking that maybe she should have a whole tab in the morning and half at lunch and after dinner, but don't know if it is better to have a whole at breakfast and a whole at dinner and leave out the lunch one... > > Anyone want to comment on this? > >
Guest guest
Hi Kath, Boy have you asked a question close to my heart. I have had to refigure moms sinemet many times. If I were in your shoes I would give your mom the highest doses close to the time where there will be a lot of activity such as bathing, etc. Mornings and afternoons are probably best for your mom as this med only works for a few hours before it loses steam. Best of luck, Courage Sinemet >Mom's shaking has been bothering her a great deal lately and I was wondering about tweaking the dose. Guest guest
With mom the shaking is what really bothers her. She complains about how awful it is and how she just wants it to stop. I heard from the caregiver this weekend was a good one with mom co-operating and being " nice " as opposed to be " crabby " and argumentative. She did say that mom was hallucinating a whole lot more...Oh well, good with the bad I suppose. It is not surprising that the hallucinating has increased along with the sinemet. I will give it a day or two and see if there is any change and then I might consider giving her a whole seroquel instead of only a half. Sigh.
