Guest guest
Mike, Thanks so much for sharing your week's events with us! We really do care around here about all our affirmation members, and we will always be praying for your little ones as well as for you & your wife! I know -- a health scare with a little one can be something that teaches us priorities very quick. My 13-month old son had a very severe asthma attack and had to be lifeflighted (in the helicopter) from one hospital emergency room to a special children's hospital emergency room, and it was terrifying! That's been many years ago, but I can remember it like it was yesterday. Sure hope Liam and Sheila continue to be healthier! And that's funny too -- isn't it like a 3-year-old to tell the grownups "let's just sit here awhile and hang out!" That's really funny! Which reminds me of Mac 's old song, "Stop and Smell the Roses" or something like that. See, I'm old. Very old! Have a great weekend, and take care! Hugs, PJMike wrote: Thanks PJ and for the wonderful replies. I just now was able to sit down and sort through all the messages of the week. My week got complicated Monday evening when we had to rush my one year old Liam to the hospital. He spent two days there after having respiratory problems. He's home now, and in good spirits. I really appreciate all the postings and guidance this group provides. Thanks for the breathing tips, PJ. Also, I have done water aerobics in the past and loved it. In the morning now I am reading Psalms and the Big Book is alwas helpful. Your post was not pushy at all, but caring and thoughtful. Thanks! - I like your suggestion of making some time for myself. My daughter Sheila and I (she's three) went to a Starbucks last Saturday. As usual I gulped down my coffee and asked Sheila if she was ready to go. She sat back, smiled, and said, "No, daddy. I want to just hang out." So we did. It was nice and I need to do that more often. As for my son's hospitalization, it helped reinforce what many of the postings here have said - prioritize. At one point at the hospital I realized i was worried about a meeting I might miss. Less than three feet away my little buddy was struggling to breathe. What a wake up call! I knew at that moment that I need to slow down and be in the moment. Things will happen when they happen - in God's time not mine. My family and my health are most important. Breathe, Mike , breathe. And so to bed - and Starbucks tomorrow with Sheila! Thanks again all. What a great group!Mike
