Guest guest
Bobo, Good to hear from you. I was wondering what you are up to. I am glad that you are starting to do better. I know you have been having a tough time finding a doc since yours retired. Kim Dr. R tomorrow Tomorrow is my second visit with Dr. R. My appointment is at 1 pm. Guest guest
I believe it was the Cytomel. Since I now start refills of Armour and Cytomel in different weeks, I can feel a difference within a couple of days of a new Cytomel refill. In fact, the refill I'm on right now has relieved a sinus drainage problem that the previous refill didn't. I think I just may have to get used to this and make adjustments on my own. I didn't see Sharon, but perhaps I literally didn't see her because she's lost in all the new space :-) Nice office. Dr. R had a med student following him around. The med student is thinking of becoming a surgeon. It was a reasonably good visit, except for the return flight. I've been to Lubbock twice, and both times the return flight was delayed for hours by weather near Dallas. I'm pooped. > Tomorrow is my second visit with Dr. R. My appointment is at 1 pm. Guest guest
Thanks for the good words, Kim. I'm reasonably optimistic at the moment. Even though I take 5 grs of Armour and 38.5 mcg Cytomel, he's open to increasing the dose if that's what is necessary to address the tendonitis. He actually read a brief note I faxed to him a couple of weeks ago, so when I went to have blood drawn, he made sure the lab checked my growth hormone levels as a possible player in the tendonitis. (Nope.) Is that rare? Doc reads note, Doc acts on long distance information from patient. He's okay with daily OTC progesterone cream for me. He's okay with me using allergy medicine (a generic benedryl) as a sleep aid. He thinks it's great that it costs under $5 and is effective for me. These are steps I took myself and his ego wasn't threatened. Since I've experienced some improvements, I'll go back in 9 months. not 6. > > Bobo, Good to hear from you. Guest guest
We don't have to go back for 9 months too! YEAH! We'll see whether my youngest can make it that long. How are your headaches? Guest guest
So you may or may not need an increase. Are you thinking more Armour or more Cytomel? I seem to remember that you were on Armour plus a hefty dose of a T4 med before. Sharon is actually not always there, since she is in school to become an NP. She is supposed to be the one to see the "sore throats and sore butts" after she graduates, so The Doc can see the endocrine patients. But I predict that she will have her own following of Hashi patients. . . . .Bobo Amerigo wrote: I believe it was the Cytomel. Guest guest
I'm thinking Cytomel. You know that ratio calculation that he does. Well, I've entered a range he prefers, but I'm not in the middle of it. Additional T3 might put me there. And my T4 went down, even though the amount of Armour I take hasn't chanaged. To me, that means that my own little thyroid gland is still producing and produced less in response to additional T3 in the blood stream. > > Tomorrow is my second visit with Dr. R. Guest guest
I forgot to add that I'm going to do a 24-hour urine collection (!) for cortisol testing. If that shows that I have enough cortisol (I'm guessing it will show I have too much), and the tendonitis doesn't decrease, then a cytomel increase could be in the works. > > Tomorrow is my second visit with Dr. R.
