Subject:

Thyroplex

I saw my nutritionist yesterday to catch up with everything that is

going on. I was on heavy steroids and look like I have Cushings right

now. We are going to work on getting the steroid look gone, helping my

adrenals and thyroid, and weight loss. I know you do not support people

self-medicating, but my nutritionist is also an md and very

knowledgeable. She has had lots of success with Thyroplex

and adrenal products. So, since I am not responding to synthoid and

cytomel, lexapro and did not do well at all on armour, I thought I would give

this a try.

I am going to take Thryoplex, Adrenal Defense, amino acids (my liver is

probably not functioning well), B6 and B12. I also am going to take

Ferrochel, which is a vegan iron product, because I am not responding to

my iron levels. My iron is below range. There are a few other

supplements, such as Same and some others for my anxiety.

Does anyone have experience with Thyroplex or Adrenal Defense? I

would appreciate any responses. I am wondering if I don't really need

much thyroid support as I still have most of thyroid left after surgery.

This is just an experiment. I will see her in a couple of weeks.

And, I am glad to have finally found someone knowledgeable in adrenal

issues. She says my cortisol is not that bad, just a little high at noon.

Thanks,

I don't have cushings, I just look like I do from the steroids. I took both new products today and feel no different. I have been going all day. I have been giving thyroid meds a try for a year and a half. I know things must go very slowly. If this doesn't work, DH has ok'd us going to Dr. R., but I want to try this and see how it goes.

Thyroplex treats adrenals, sex hormones and thyroid all at once, designed to help maintain endocrine function. She makes sure of where it comes from to assure no mad cow disease. It comes from New Zealand. It has:

hypothalamus, bovine, 200 mg

Adrenal, bovine, 200 mg

Pituitary, Anterior, bovine 150 mg

Ovary, bovine, 50 mg

Thyroid, Whole, bovine, 15 mg

Adrenal Defense is designed to preven adrenal fatigue. It has vit c, vit b5, ashwagandha (which I take more of in straight form), ginseng, bovine adrenal complex, and bioflavanoid complex.

I guess I will be the guinea pig and let everyone know how it goes. I also would like to spend some time researching on internet.

Never heard of Thryoplex and Adrenal Defense, what do they have in them? How long did ya'll give to respond to real thyroid meds? It takes time. Months or even a year or so. When you body is damage, it is not a quick route to get better. We are still tweaking mine. I'm on 4 grains of Armour, but still tried and my FT4 was in the pits. So starting today my doctor added some T4.Why do you feel you have Cushings? Your statement is confusing. If she said it is only high at noon, that doesn't mean you have Cushings. Can you post your labs and ranges?Kate At 09:09 AM 5/8/2007, you wrote:>I saw my nutritionist yesterday to catch up with everything that is going >on. If you read the info on that site, Thyroplex is not suitable as total replacement for folks with thyroid disease. It is mainly used for anti-aging medicine, as it only contains 15 mg of dessicated thyroid. If you are hypothyroid, you need probably much more than that. If your nutritionist is suggesting that you take it alone, then she does not know what she is doing. I would also state that Dr. does not have a good track record for treating thyroid patients. Armour in that it contains T4, T3, T2 and T1, but it is made from cows and not pigs. It also contains some other hormones in addition to the thyroid. It was made by Dr. athon and he suggests that it could be taken in place of Armour or as a supplement to Armour. http://www.tahoma-clinic.com/empty.shtml http://www.hfn-usa.com/shop/cart.php?m=product_detail & p=93 & wm_ctID=16 & wm_kwID=82652 & wm_crID=122517 & wm_mtID=3 & wm_content=0 & wm_lpID=875 & gclid=CO7q1o_5gYwCFQ5GSgodKhtTwQ

Apparently it is also a type of self-defense and a move or player in an on-line game :) I will let everyone know how I do on this. I know many are unsure of using natural products such as herbs and supplements, I was too and that included Armour but am desparate to try something besides synthroid. Dr. says that this product is good for those with in-range numbers but who still have symptoms.

I thought that I remembered that about him. Yes, I know that it should not be used solely as thyroid replacement hormone, but since I don't seem to respond at all to thyroid hormone, I thought that I would take this why I was working on my adrenals and then try to add back Armour. I guess in a way I am scaling back to ground zero and working with things one at a time to figure out what is going on. I would like to see Dr. soon and hear his opinion but I thought I would try on my own to get my adrenals in better shape. Time will tell if I do need any additional hormone. I was one of the ones who couldn't tolerate 1/4 grain of armour and that is what, supposedly, is in thyroplex.
