Hi ,

You said ' if I look after myself, and don't get hit by a bus or anything,

I'll last til I'm at

least 100, easily :-)'

Thanks for the chuckle, and the memories. My Nmom called all of 'the

children' together about ten years ago to tell us that she had 'the same thing

that

Pop had', and was going into the hospital for surgery. My Pop/grandfather had

colon cancer. Turned out Nmom had a hemorrhoid removed. She still hasn't

gotten cancer of any kind, but is still trying.

I'm looking forward to lasting a good while too; my grandmother died at

93...of a broken arm/shock/morphine. See ya in the poker parlor, Carol

this is one of the stranger and sometimes humorous sides of bp--my dad has died

so many times that it is rediculous. if he got a cold he would tell us he was

dying. every sunday he would go through a dying spell and it got to the point

that we would ask each other how dad was on sunday and we'd say it's sunday,

he's dying. there was actually a reason behind it--he was stabbed in the navy

and a counselor thinking it was ptsd asked what day it was--we looked in the

records and it really happened on a sunday. too bad the navy didn't give him

counseling. when i stopped contact with the family my brother made a plea and

said that i needed to be more flexible and just go along with things like

everyone else. he then said, cuz you know, dad is getting old, and he could die

soon. i said, maybe they should come around to my side because who knows, maybe

I could die soon--my brother looked dumbfounded and i could see that he had

never considered the fact that anyone other than my father could meet their

end...tiki

Sounds very familiar, my mother has been terminial as long as I can

remember of course the illness changes, This year alone she has

almost had cancer, a stroke that almost killed her( she was driving

all over the next day) I won't bore you with the rest but she is

always unable to follow through because her illness is criticial.

It started 50 years ago and she is still going strong. I just don't

know how she can stand all the tests and probing, I wonder if that is

her form of self-mutilation. She average's an operation a year.

Good nite to all, Vicki
