Guest guest
I know what you mean. I think I have over done it the last two weeks and had a panic attack tonight, also severe allergies probably from all these cold fronts that keep rollling in. First panic attack in almost a year. I think I will take it easy for a while. Had my blood drawn this am for my appt with dr. R. I feel like I crashed today. I call it my christmas hangover. I feeltired, increased hairloss and allergies. I can't seem to bounce back. Any thoughts on the cortisol labvalues?Yvette> > > >> > > > When I read the symptoms I thought adrenals. Guest guest
I have been sick the entire month. At first it seemed like a miserable cold that sat in my chest. I finally did a round of antibiotics last week when I felt much worse and felt like I had a sinus infection. Still feeling crummy. I saw my GP again today again since I had to take my daughter. I told him I was still feeling crummy. He wrote a prescription for a different antibiotic. I haven’t decided yet whether I am going to take them or not. I’ll probably get them filled so I don’t get caught if I do decide I need them. I can’t decide if I caught another bug that was going around or whether the first round of antibiotics did not do the trick. This all started December 1st and is still going. I had such grand plans for the month. I did very little of what I planned. I still haven’t got Christmas cards out. Now I’m too swamped with my month end deadline for work, since I behind from being sick. I guess everyone will get a Happy New Year’s card instead. Guest guest
How much sleep are you getting? Your cortisol doesn't look too bad. I wouldn't want it lower than that in the am. Have you had your B12 checked? I remember your iron was low, you need to talk about iron supplements with the doctor. This is a big allergy time of the year. Make sure when you dust, do it with a dust mask on. Clean up excess clutter in your bedroom(harbors dust), wash bed linen and pillows once a week. Wash, wet dust or vacuum window coverings once a week. Again wear a mask. If you have cats and change the litter box...wear a mask. I finally was allergy tested. I was having chronic sinus infections every 6-8 weeks and a cough that wouldn't stop. I've gone almost 12 weeks without an infection and my cough is next to none. I am on two allergy sprays and an eye drop. Also I follow those things that I listed. It has made the difference in the word. I have mild allergies to mold, dust, one local tree and grass, roach, cats and dogs. It's funny about the cats and dogs...I never sneeze, get watery eye or hives around my guys. Got to run.... Guest guest
It can cause fatigue too. It is also connected with the Adrenals. Some people are able to aid their adrenals with VIt B and C. Kate At 01:09 PM 12/27/2007, you wrote: >I went ahead and started a iron supplement, I'll call the doctor and >let him know. Guest guest
Ok, I just got my labs and I'm a little concerned. This is not what they told me on the phone. I'm going to have to call the doctor on monday. T-4 free 1.4 (0.8-1.8) T-3 uptake 34 (22-35%) T-4(thyroxine),total 8.5 (4.5-12.5) Free T4 index (T7) 2.9 (1.4-3.8) I don't understand the different T4's. I'm worried. Guest guest
Low hemoglobin is already turned to anemia. Hasn't the doctor even mentioned this? What are your other blood cells like, # wise, as in the red blood cells? Are the #s larger than range or smaller than range? Not the white cells, the red ones. Don't start iron unless it is actually iron anemia, as there are different forms of anemia, like Kate was talking about. B12, Folic Acid, etc.....they make the red blood cells appear completely different, but all eventually decrease the hemoglobin. Guest guest
My earlier labs state that I do have low iron. red blood cell count 4.28 (4.20-5.10) I'm barely in the range. Guest guest
Do you or did you have a high MCV or a low MCV? Did the RDW show out of range LOW or out of range HIGH? This is very important as the red blood cells will be enlarged, with not very many, with either B12 or Folic Acid shortage or both, but they will be smaller and also scant with iron anemia. Mine came back mixed, i.e., I was very slightly iron anemic, but a whole bunch Folic Acid anemic. It disappeared within the next 3 months, as I diligently worked on it for quite some time. I was also severely hypo at that time and wasn't taking nearly as much thyroid hormone as I am now. Mine also had the MCHC out of line. Guest guest
MCV 87.5 (80-100) RDW 16.1 (11-15) MCHC 33.6 (32-36) thanks, Yvette > > Do you or did you have a high MCV or a low MCV? Guest guest
Ok, look at that RDW. What did your doctor say, at that time, about the size of your red blood cells? Did he/she tell you anything at all about this. These cells, at that time, were obviously oversized. Whether any other part of your red blood cell testing showed a MIXTURE of undersized and oversized, I have no way of knowing, but remember the statements about indicators for other anemias, like the B12 and/or Folic Acid. I'd talk to the doctor about this, or if these tests aren't that recent, I would get them run again. I find it strange that he/she wouldn't see something strange about the size, but oversized is not iron anemia, even though the hemoglobin will always be out of whack for all forms of anemia, once it has gone that far. Talk to this doctor about this and ask. Re: Hairloss > MCV 87.5 (80-100) > RDW 16.1 (11-15) > MCHC 33.6 (32-36) > > thanks, > > Yvette > > > >> >> Do you or did you have a high MCV or a low MCV? Guest guest
Your Free T4 is in mid range or a " hair " above it. There is not Free T3, so we don't have a full picture. So you need to ask why they didn't run it. The uptake is an outdated test. You have room to work with based on your symptoms and the Free T4, but the Free T3 will help with the picture. I think your iron is causing problems...so you need to talk about supplement. Do you eat any red meat? Picked up some nice looking steak for the New Year!!! Guest guest
If you have not already done so. You can contact the clinic and have them fax or mail you your labs. Legally they HAVE to give you a copy if you request them. They are allowed to charge you a fee but they do have to provide them.
